If you are a United States educator or associated with a community garden, you will want to read this article to find out about gardening grants that are currently available.
It is imperative to note that several of these grants are given annually so if your school does not win this time around you can always try, try again!
What follows is a very brief description of each grant currently available, the grant’s application deadline and links to where those interested can find more information on them including copies of the grant applications.
Home Depot Youth Garden Grant
The deadline for the “Home Depot Youth Garden Grant” is November 1st, 2010. Applications are available for download from both the “Kid’s Gardening” and “Home Depot” websites.
There will be 100 winners and of those, 95 will receive a $500 gift certificate from “Home Depot” as well as a plethora of educational materials from the “National Garden Association.”
The other winners will receive $1,000 packages. Each of those 5 packages are slated to include a $500 gift card for use with the “Kid’s Gardening” catalog and a $500 “Home Depot” gift certificate.
Jamba Juice: It is all about the Fruit Grant Program
The Jamba Juice grant application deadline is November 29th, 2010. Applications are available from both the “Kid’s Gardening” and “Jamba Juice” websites.
There will be 20 winners and those winners will receive live fruit trees valued at $500 along with educational materials.
2011 Muhammad Ali Center for Peace Garden
The deadline to apply for the “2011 Muhammad Ali Center for Peace Garden” grant is January 5th, 2011. Applications are available for download from both the “Kid’s Gardening” and “Yum! Brands” websites.
There will be 50 winners and they will receive educational materials, kid sized gardening tools and gloves as well as a composter and a raised gardening bed.
Welch’s Harvest Grant
The deadline to apply for the “Welch’s Harvest” grant is February 11th, 2011. Applications are available for download from both the “Kid’s Gardening” and “Welch’s Juice” website.
There will be 100 winners with two winners coming from each state. Of those, 5 will receive packages valued at $1,000 and the other 95 will receive packages valued at $500.
