The 2010 Emmy Award winners list is just a day away from release. Among those hoping to make the 2010 Emmy Award winners list are several leading men that have carried their shows for a numbers of years. The most interesting category could be Outstanding Lead Actor In a Drama Series, with all of the nominees carrying the possibility that they could win on Sunday. The nominees are Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Matthew Fox (Lost), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Hugh Laurie (House). All of these actors were great last season, and all are deserving of a win on Sunday.
Then there is the equally intriguing category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, where several newcomers to the nomination floor deserve heavy consideration for their roles this past season. Again it is a category that could be tough to win, with many thinking that this could be the years that Jim Parsons takes the award for his role as Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. The nominees are Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Steve Carell (The Office), Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), and Tony Shalhoub (Monk). Is this a category that Baldwin or Shalhoub can win again? Or maybe Morrison will surprise everyone from his first season on Glee.
The 62nd Primetime Emmy awards are on Sunday, August 29, and will be hosted by comedian Jimmy Fallon. The broadcast will be provided live for both coasts, and is set to begin at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST). Make sure to tune in early to see the opening monologue from Jimmy Fallon, because early indications are that it will be extremely funny.
