The Great American Beer Festival has been a tasting bonanza and a competition for more than 450 breweries since 1982.
2010 Great American Beer Festival Guide: What You Get For Your Ticket Price
If you don’t have your tickets already, you’re out of luck unless you can find someone with extras. The 2010 Great American Beer Festival is completely sold out this year! But if you’re a lucky ticket holder, you can expect to get quite a bit of beer for the price of your ticket. There are three evening sessions that begin at 5:30pm and end at 10pm, each giving you access to one-ounce samples of over 2000 beers. You’ll also get a festival program, a guide to help you navigate the floor and a commemorative tasting cup.
Designated Driver tickets are only $20, and free non-alcoholic sodas are made available by some of the breweries.
Not included in your ticket price is a coat check and food as well as non-alcoholic beverages, all of which will be available if you’d like to purchase them.
2010 Great American Beer Festival Guide: Who Can Go
You have to be over the age of 21 to be allowed entrance to the 2010 Great American Beer Festival, even if you have a ticket and even if that ticket is a Designated Driver ticket. It’s not encouraged, but children under the age of 2 who are being carried by their parents are allowed entry, but no strollers are allowed.
2010 Great American Beer Festival Guide: Saturday Afternoon Session
The Saturday Afternoon Connoisseur Session is a members-only event this year. Members of the Brewers Association or the American Homebrewers Association will be the only ones allowed into the tasting. It’s worth the $38 for a 1 year membership to get in the door, however, especially considering you can use your membership card to get discounts on beer, food, and merchandise at other bars and breweries across the country all year round. The Saturday afternoon session lasts from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.
