The 2010 Little League World Series schedule was altered due to rain. The 2010 Little League World Series schedule will continue on Tuesday morning, when the kids take back to the field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Little League World Series games on Monday night had to be postponed when rain drenched the fields, but that only took place after hours of rain delays. Now games from Monday night were pushed to Tuesday, and several Tuesday games had to be pushed back to Wednesday. This could end up being advantageous to teams that were risking pitch limit rest days when it came to their staffs.
The biggest changes to the 2010 Little League World Series schedule come with the Great Lakes vs. Southeast and New England vs. Northwest games. They were both intended to be played on Monday night, and had to be fit into the schedule on Tuesday, August 24 instead. The Great Lakes vs. Southeast game will now be a at 1 p.m. PST on ESPN, and the New England vs. Northwest games will now be at 5 p.m. PST on ESPN2. Both games will give the pitchers a bit more rest, especially since all these teams already played two games at the 2010 Little League World Series.
It’s definitely going to be an interesting couple of days at the Little League World Series as teams try to adjust to what the rain has done, and hopefully it lets up so that there aren’t more delays in the action. These kids are already going to be worn out from the long schedule at the tournament, and they don’t need to be sitting around in dugouts for hours on end while they just wait for a game to be called. The fans didn’t have that problem though, as they took the time to create a mud-slide beyond the center field fence, with dozens of kids sliding down it in order to keep entertained. The groundskeepers probably weren’t too happy with what took place, but then again, the Little League World Series is supposed to be all about the kids anyways.
