The month of December start off with some pivotal games between division rivals that will have playoff implications. Take a look at these NFL predictions for Week 13 of the 2010 season.
Houston Texans at Philadelphia Eagles
The Thursday night game will feature a Texans team fresh off a dominant win over a division rival as they travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Eagles who are eager to rebound from a loss to the Chicago Bears. One thing you can be sure of is the Texans defense will not be able to pitch another shutout this week. The Eagles will rebound nicely to keep pace in the NFC.
Prediction – Philadelphia 24 Houston 17
Cleveland Browns at Miami Dolphins
The Browns ran to victory behind stud running back Peyton Hillis and will be ready to take on a Dolphins team that looked balanced in their convincing win over the Oakland Raiders. The Dolphins will need to find a way to slow down Hillis and force the Browns to win through the air. The key to this game will be the performance of the Dolphins’ offense and if they are able to maintain a balanced attack.
Prediction – Dolphins 27 Browns 24
Washington Redskins at New York Giants
The Redskins took a step in the wrong direction with their most recent loss and consider it bad timing when they head to New York to take on a NFC East rival. The Giants looked impressive with their late comeback and should have enough firepower on the offensive side to earn another win and keep their playoff chances.
Prediction -New York 21 Washington 17
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
The Jaguars lost an opportunity last week when they gave away a win to the New York Giants. Now they will need to rebound against a divisional foe who looked like they were playing with a fifth string quarterback. If the Titans do not find any success from the quarterback position, you can expect to see Vince Young coming off the bench to try and spark the team.
Prediction – Jaguars 24 Titans 10
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
The Bears helped established their place as one of the best in the NFC with a win over the Eagles while the Lions spent Thanksgiving Day on the wrong end of a lopsided game. Though the Bears played the Lions close during Week 1 of the NFL season, you can expect their ever progressing offensive unit to find more success this time around.
Prediction – Chicago 31 Detroit 17
Buffalo Bills at Minnesota Vikings
The Bills were a catch away from earning their third win of the NFL season while the Vikings finally began to show some life in their first game during the post-Childress era. The Bills offense is going to have a tough time again for the second week in the row when they take on a revitalize Vikings defense. The performance of Fred Jackson is going to go a long way in helping the Bills earn a road win.
Prediction – Buffalo 21 Minnesota 10
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The last time these two teams met, they each seemed to score at well whenever they touched the ball. The Chiefs defense has rebounds since then and will be ready for a Broncos offense that seems average at best. The Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe will continue his surprising rise to one of the position as one of the top wide receivers in the game.
Prediction – Chiefs 31 Broncos 17
San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers
The 49ers will be working off a short week after Monday Night and will be traveling to the Frozen Tundra to take on a Packers team ready to rebound from a disappointing loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers are still one of the top three teams in the NFC and will be ready to take on a team from the dismal NFC West. The Packers will come away with a convincing win.
Prediction – Packers 28 49ers 17
New Orleans Saints at Cincinnati Bengals
The Saints will be fully rested from their Thanksgiving Day win when they travel to take on the Bengals who are trying to avoid a tailspin for the remainder of the season. The Saints offense is beginning to show their true colors by taking over the course of the game when they are on the field. The Saints should have no problem dispatching a Bengals team eager to looking forward to next year.
Prediction -Saints 35 Bengals 10
Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers
The Chargers defense stepped up big against the Colts and will be ready to take on a Raiders team that has begun to look average at best. If the Raiders want to earn a win, they will need to find a way to get running back Darren McFadden involved in the running game. The Chargers will ride the arm of quarterback Phillip Rivers this week to a sure victory.
Prediction -Chargers 24 Raiders 10
Dallas Cowboys at Indianapolis Colts
The Cowboys will be ready to rebound from a close loss last week when they travel to Indianapolis to take on a Colts team that does not look like a playoff contender. The Cowboys will have a chance at earning a win if they can mimic the Chargers defensive scheme to take away the Colts strength and force them to turn the ball over.
Prediction -Colts 31 Cowboys 21
St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals
The Rams find themselves at the top of the NFC West and ready to make a run at the playoffs. The Cardinals will be standing in their way and ready to try and make a late season push to have a .500 record. The Rams, led by rookie quarterback Sam Bradford, may not be the most polished team but always seem to find a way to win when the game is close.
Prediction – Rams 24 Cardinals 10
Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are the other team tied for the lead in the NFC West and will have a chance to make a push for the playoffs as they welcome the Panthers to their home field. The Seahawks defense should be able to recoup this week when they face a Panthers offense that been averaging a NFL low 12.7 points per game.
Prediction -Seahawks 27 Panthers 10
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Falcons are the top team in the NFC, especially when they are playing at home. This is good news for the Buccaneers who will be playing host to the Falcons. The Buccaneers have a chance to earn a signature win over a division foe if they can shorten the field and keep the Falcons running game from gobbling up big chunks at a time. This is the upset special of the week.
Prediction -Buccaneers 21 Falcons 20
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
One of the premiere match-ups in the AFC will feature the Steelers taking on the Ravens for the division lead in the AFC North. These two physical teams are going to use their punishing defenses to take away the deep passes and make their opposition win the game on the ground. The winner in this game will earn the inside track to a playoff berth and possible home field advantage.
Prediction – Steelers 21 Ravens 17
New York Jets at New England Patriots
The Jets and Patriots will close out the week on Monday night football in a battle for the top spot in the AFC East as well as the conference. The Jets will rely upon their defense to try and slow down a Patriots offense that leads the NFL in scoring with 30.4 points per game. NFL fans should expect some fireworks before the game as each of the head coaches try to get in the heads of the opposition.
Prediction – Patriots 27 Jets 21
