It’s time for my 2010 NFL week 13 predictions and picks. Once again the NFL has a Thursday game on tap for the week 13 NFL schedule. But the rest of the slate of games will be played on Sunday or Monday.
Let’s start the 2010 NFL week 13 predictions and picks with the Thursday night showdown between Houston and Philadelphia. The Texans looked tough in a home shutout of the Tennessee Titans. Philadelphia was banged up a bit on the road in a loss at Chicago in week 12. So what happens during week 13? Philadelphia will be a heavy favorite thanks to the great play of Mike Vick. And they should be. But I think Houston hangs around and makes a decent game of it. There’s nothing more scary than a team fighting for a playoff spot late in the season. The Texans are just that. I still think the Eagles will muster a close 29-23 win over Houston when all is said and done.
Moving on to the Sunday NFL week 13 schedule, New Orleans pays a visit to fast sinking Cincy. Can the Bengals figure out a way to beat the defending champs? I don’t think so. In fact, I think the Saints win by 10 or more. My 2010 NFL week 13 predictions and picks have Drew Brees connecting for four touchdown passes in a 31-16 win over the Bengals.
Chicago travels to Detroit. One thing that could make the difference in this contest is the defense of the Bears. I think Chicago will flex a little muscle and pick up a huge divisional road win 23-13. Is this a Bears team capable of winning a Super Bowl? It’s certainly starting to look like the fans at Soldier Field have something to be excited about.
Elsewhere, San Francisco travels to Green Bay in a critical game for the Packers. If Green Bay wants to keep pace in the NFC home field playoff hunt, they’ll need every win they can get including this one. My picks and predictions for week 13 have the Packers winning 31-6. By the way, Chicago visits Green Bay during the final week of the regular season and that’s building to be one huge divisional showdown.
Jacksonville travels to Tennessee in a win or go or stay home type of game. Both teams need wins desperately to stay alive in the AFC playoff hunt. Tennessee didn’t look too hot against Houston this past week. I think the Jags have an opportunity to gain some ground with a road win–but it won’t happen in Nashville at LP Field. Titans defense their way to a 19-10 victory.
Denver visits Kansas City in a game that might be a return the favor type scenario. In fact, I look for Kansas City to hand the Broncos an equivalent tale whooping this time around at Arrowhead. My 2010 NFL week 13 predictions and picks say it’s all KC at home, 34-18.
What’s next on the 2010 NFL week 13 schedule? Cleveland visits Miami in what could be a great contest. In fact, I think this one has overtime written all over it. Peyton Hillins runs for 2 scores and the Browns steal a win in OT 27-24.
Buffalo is at Minnesota in a game the Vikings should win. But what should happen and what has happened are two very different stories for Minnesota this year. Still, I believe the Vikings will escape with a 26-16 win in front of the home crowd. Adrian Peterson gets busy with 135 yards and 2 TD’s.
Washington travels to New York to face the Giants. Will the Redskins play well enough to win on the road–or will the Giants defense push Donovan McNabb around. I’ll take the second answer. McNabb gets sacked 5 times and the Giants win ugly 23-13.
Oakland at San Diego looks like an interesting contest on paper. The Raiders have played well at time but San Diego appears to be on a mission of late. I think the Chargers, with 3 Philip Rivers TD passes, roll to a huge win over the Raiders 33-10.
Next up on the 2010 NFL week 13 schedule is Carolina at Seattle. I don’t think the Panthers will be closer than 10 but I’ve been wrong before. I think by the third quarter Seattle will be up 3 touchdowns and cruise to a 31-14 win.
Atlanta is at Tampa Bay in a huge NFC contest. The Falcons need to keep winning to hold off the Bears for home field–or so it looks that way currently in the NFL landscape. The Bucs are fighting for playoff position in the meantime. What gives? Not the birds. Matt Ryan sparkles with 3 TD’s and Atlanta wins going away 27-19.
St. Louis also visits Arizona in a game that suddenly has big meaning for the Rams. Can Sam Bradford continue his storybook freshman campaign? I think the answer at least for 2010 NFL week 13 is absolutely yes. Rams win on the road 30-23.
Dallas visits Indianapolis in a game that is way more important for the Colts than the Cowboys–unless you are a Cowboys fan hoping for a lottery pick. Colts win big as Peyton Manning explodes for 3 TD passes and a 31-14 victory.
The Sunday night game features Pittsburgh at Baltimore. The defense in this one could be brilliant. Or will we see one of those odd high scoring affairs featuring two defensively dominant teams? My 2010 NFL week 13 predictions and picks say it will be somewhere in between. Ravens edge the Steelers 23-21 on a late field goal–or a slight missed field goal from the Steelers in the closing seconds.
The final game of 2010 NFL week 13 schedule pits the New York Jets against the New England Patriots. It could easily be the best Monday Night Game of the year–but I don’t think that will be the case this week. Patriots get 2 Tom Brady TD passes to Wes Welker and roll to a surprising 26-13 win.
That’s it for my 2010 NFL week 13 picks and predictions. I’ll be back next in seven days to look at the 2010 NFL week 14 schedule and my picks and predictions as we head down the stretch run.
