2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: New York Jets at Detroit Lions: The New York Jets suffered their second loss last week against the Green Bay Packers. Mark Sanchez and the Jets were shut out at home. The Jets defense performed well during the game, preventing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ strong passing offense from entering the end-zone. The Detroit Lions had a big win last week over the Washington Redskins. Matthew Stafford’s return combined with big plays by Ndamukong Suh and Jahvid Best resulted in an upset against the Redskins. The New York Jets will bounce back this week and beat the Lions 24-21.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off another win last week, this time against the suffering Arizona Cardinals. Josh Freeman passed for 270 yards and a touchdown, while LaGarrette Blount led the ground game with 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Buccaneers’ defense was able to take advantage of rookie, Max Hall’s, mistakes and return 2 interceptions for touchdowns. The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a bye week and were able to rest up for this game. Matt Ryan and the Falcons are first in their division with a 5-2 record. They are ranked 10th in points scored with 24.1 per game and 7th in total yards on offense with 370 yards per game. Their main weakness is their defense, which is 23rd with yards allowed with 356 per game, but they have one of the best red-zone defenses, allowing only 19 points per game. The Atlanta Falcons should win this 28-24.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: San Diego Chargers at Houston Texans: The San Diego Chargers rallied late to beat the Titans last week. Philip Rivers threw for 305 yards and 2 touchdowns, with 123 of the yards and 1 touchdown going to Antonio Gates. Their defense also performed great, allowing Chris Johnson to rush for only 59 yards and 1 touchdown. The Houston Texans are coming off a bye week and will look to get a win at home against the Chargers. Matt Schaub has been inconsistent this year, putting up big numbers in some games and horrific numbers the next. Arian Foster had a week to relax and recover from injury, so he should be able to put up some more big numbers. This will be a close game, but the Texans will walk away with a 31-28 victory.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers: The Saints haven’t had the strong offensive presence as they did last year. Drew Brees hasn’t made the big hook-ups and the Saints running game has been dismal without Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas. There is hopes that Reggie Bush will be playing this week against the Panthers. The Carolina Panthers are a little lost and confused on what they should do. Their passing game is a joke and their defense is almost nothing without Julius Peppers. Hopefully they can pull something out this week against the Saints. The Saints win this game handily, 35-14.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Chicago Bears at Buffalo Bills: The Bears are coming off a much needed bye week. Jay Cutler and the Bear’s offense need to figure out a way to get more points on the board. They’ve only been average 18 points per game and are ranked 29th in offensive yards, averaging only 290 per game. Their defense is what is keeping them together. The addition of Julius Peppers has increased their pass defense and they have only been allowing 16.3 points per game. The Buffalo Bills remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL. After their overtime loss to Kansas City, they know they can fight for a win and that will be a little scary for the Bears, who were probably looking past this game during their bye week. The Bills rank last in points allowed, allowing over 30 points per game. Ryan Fitzpatrick is performing well, but the rest of the team needs to step it up if they want to win. The Buffalo Bills will come together this week and take advantage of the Bears, 24-21.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings: Max Hall was quickly benched after throwing two early interceptions last week. Derek Anderson came on to the field and almost lead these suffering birds to victory, just falling short of the Buccaneers. It didn’t help that the Cardinals’ defense gave up 38 points to the Bucs. The Minnesota Vikings lost last week to the Patriots. Brett Favre took the start, but ended up getting knocked out of the game with a hard shot to the chin. Tarvaris Jackson then came into the game in the 4th quarter and went 4/6 and 36 yards with a touchdown. He also had 33 rushing yards on one attempt. Why they didn’t put Jackson in to start out with in the beginning? Because Favre wanted to continue his streak and Brad Childress cares more about keeping Favre happy more than winning. To continue on, Adrian Peterson rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, his longest run only being 9 yards, which is horrible in his books. When the birds travel to the dome this week, the Cardinals will win 21-17.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns: The Patriots came out with a victory last week against the Vikings. They put up a tough defense and held off the Vikings late in the game. Tom Brady and his receivers started off a little shaky, but ended up figuring things out and were able to come out big in the end. The Browns are coming off a bye week. Their offense is currently ranked 31st in points scored. Hopefully their offense can figure some way to get the ball down the field and into the endzone. Another problem is that the Browns still don’t know who their starting quarterback is going to be. The Patriots steal this game 31-13.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens: The Miami Dolphins squeaked by with a victory last week. Chad Henne has been impressive these last few weeks, and their defense has been stopping the opponents efficiently. The Ravens are coming off a bye week and hope to start of the last half of the season with a win. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice will look to pump off their offense with a big game and against the Dolphins, they probably will do that. The Ravens win at home, 24-20.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks: The Giants are coming off a bye week after almost losing to the Cowboys in week 7. Eli Manning will have to step it up and make smart throws this week to keep it out of the hands of the Seahawks defenders. If Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs can get the running game to be more efficient, we could really see this offense explode this week. Matt Hasselbeck looked like he was young again 2 weeks ago, but last week he led the Seahawks to only 3 points for the game, completing only 40% of his passes for 160 yards and 1 interception. The New York Giants will win this game, 28-10.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Indianapolis Colts at Philadelphia Eagles: The Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning have been the biggest threat the last 4 years. They’ve had a strong running game to help them and great receivers with Austin Collie, Reggie Wayne, and Pierre Garcon. This week, they will look to exploit the Eagles’ well rested defense and move down the field through the air. Andy Reid hasn’t decided who will start this week yet, Michael Vick or Kevin Kolb. Both of these quarterbacks are great, but each have their own strengths. We will see who he chooses, but either way, the Colts will win 35-31.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders: From the bottom to the top, the Chiefs turned around their team and are on the verge of making the playoffs. Matt Cassel has been extremely efficient for the Chiefs and with the help from Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, They should stay at the top. The Oakland Raiders have recently emerged as a running threat. Darren McFadden has been friendly to fantasy players the last few weeks. Jason Campbell has been threading the needle and moving the ball effectively down the field, as well. The big story is the Raiders’ defense. Last week, they only allowed a field goal to be scored and caused multiple turnovers. This week will be a toss-up, but the Chiefs are more balanced will slip by with a 24-21 win.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers: The Cowboys are in trouble. Tony Romo is out again and Jon Kitna is inefficient behind center. Their run threat is dismal and their receivers are banged up. Nothing is going for the Cowboys who Jerry Jones wanted to host and win the Superbowl at home this year. Sorry Jerry Jones; that just isn’t happening. The Green Bay Packers didn’t put the ball in the end-zone last week but still walked away victorious in a 9-0 victory. The story of that game was their defense. They forced 3 turnovers from the Jets. Their only problem was their inability to get the ball into the end-zone. Aaron Rodgers was only 15/34 and 170 yards. Brandon Jackson rushed for 55 yards (one 27 yard scamper) and Greg Jennings received 81 yards. The Packers are all banged up as well as the Dallas Cowboys, but the Packers are a little bit deeper and have been playing with second stringers all year. The Packers win this game 28-17.
2010 NFL Week 9 Predictions: Pittsburg Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals: The Pittsburg Steelers are coming off a tough loss against the Saints. Ben Roethlisberger looked like he hadn’t played in a few weeks and their run game was dismal at best. The Steelers defense allowed only 16 rushing yards to the Saints, and we will be looking for them to do about the same this week against the Bengals mediocre run attack. The Bengals had a few awesome plays last week, but that didn’t equate to a win. Terrell Owens finally showed some action for the team, but that isn’t enough to save them from their plummet below .500. The Steelers will rebound this week and win 24-14.
