The 2010 World Series Quilt Challenge is underway. This is a new event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative. Each artist created a 16×16 quilt. Quilts will be auctioned online starting on November 1 and ending on November 10. This is in conjunction with November being Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. There are two ways to help raise money for the World Series Quilt Challenge.
Vote for your favorite Quilt or Quilter
This is where the majority of quilting fans will be able to help. Simply click here, and you will be able to view the quilts and vote. Each vote costs $1. You can vote several times or enter a larger amount. The stats are online, for easy tracking. Voting for your favorite quilt in the World Series Quilt Challenge is not a bid on the quilt. It is simply a way to raise money for a great cause and share your support with your favorite quilter.
The team that earns the most money will be the champions. An MVP award will go to the person who earns the most money.
Bid on the Quilt
Starting November 1 you can go online and actually bid on a quilt. It is an online auction. For some of us, this will be the only way we ever have a chance of owning a quilt by one of these huge quilting stars. Bidding ends November 10. Quilts can be viewed at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, November 3 – 7.
Quilters involved with the World Series Quilt Challenge
The Quilter’s associated with this event are as varied as their quilts. More than a few are household names in the world of Quilting. As in baseball, the quilters are divided into teams. The teams are: American Quilt League and the National Quilt League. I guarantee you, if you don’t know their name, you do know their work. There are no amateurs here.
