You probably already know there are a plethora of weight loss tips scattered about the internet. Some tips may aid in your weight loss success; some can actually derail you; and some should be locked away, never to be mentioned again (e.g., just plain crazy).

#4: Eat Breakfast
Experts tell us that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (WebMD, 2010). If “they” say its so then it must be true and I mean this sincerely. Eating a healthy breakfast will aid in your weight loss success.
The benefits of eating breakfast:
Eating breakfast may give you more energy throughout the day-and who doesn’t need that?
Eating breakfast may reduce your hunger later in the day. No one likes to feel the tummy grumble.
Eating breakfast may help you make better food choices throughout your day. Psychological benefits? Brilliant!
Remember also that it is important to eat a healthy breakfast. Healthy selections include: eggs, whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, and lean (meat) protein. Who doesn’t like to sleep? A recent study showed that sleep may aid in weight loss (Scientific American, 2010). This just makes sense to me. Receiving the proper amount of sleep per night will help the body be rested and refreshed to begin the new day.
If you have trouble sleeping at night you may be seriously affecting your weight loss success.
A few tips for better sleep habits?
Reduce your stress-easy to say, sometimes hard to do; but you may wish to evaluate the stressors in your life. Less stress will help you sleep better.
Avoid eating heavy foods at night. This may sound like the opposite of what you know (think: Thanksgiving dinner), but eating certain foods several hours before bed may make you unable to fall asleep and stay there.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol at night. Drink a glass of water, juice (natural, but watch those natural sugars), or milk if you are thirsty; and keep a glass of water by your bedside for middle of the night dry mouth.
