Before you jump on any trend band-wagon this fall, make sure you’re aware of the good, the bad, and the just down right ugly. This is a compilation of the ugly. There is no need to have certain items in your closet. Resist the temptation and go with fashionable over fashion crime.
Of all the new fall trends to avoid this fall, this one takes the cake. The dreaded faux fur vest. I mean, who came up with this thing? Every time I see one I become instantly confused. Really, are you hot, cold, or you couldn’t figure it out so you decided to go with this all in one I’m hot and cold all at the same time contraption?. It’s ridiculous. The look of this thing is just as horrible as the idea of it. It looks like a bunch of hairy strings all woven together. I believe when whoever came up with this idea, they were trying to recreate the only acceptable fur vest I’ve seen in my entire life, Altuzarra’s Belted Fur greatness. Unless you’re going to go with this one, just don’t even bother.
Another trend to avoid this fall is the almost ankle but not quite there long skirt. This is just a hot mess. The longest that any woman’s skirt need be is knee length, especially if you’re under 50. Dressing conservatively does not equal a skirt down to your ankles, and it also does not mean that you have to give up style. I don’t know who started this trend but it’s definitely a fashion no-no.
If you must have a hat on (which I can’t think of many reasons that a woman would want to cover her crowning glory), do not go with the fedora. Every woman I’ve seen in a fedora looks way better with it off. It’s not extremely flattering to anyone. The shape of it just does not work well with anything except if you’re going to do a double faux pas and dress in menswear.
As you do your shopping this fall, do yourself a favor and leave these items at the store. You’ll look way better for having done so.
