Life is a series of ups and downs, a roller coaster, with full of anxiety. However, the Bible has on numerous times encouraged us to keep pressing on. Paul says in Philippians 3:12, “Not that I have already attained or I’m already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has already laid hold of me.” When I feel discouraged, I remind myself to look beyond the obstacles and keep pressing on towards my goal. Bible verses that encourage me to keep pressing towards my goals are;
John 14:1 says, Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me.”
Many are the times we worry a lot, that we have no room for positive results. We go to sleep at the end of the day, wondering how things will work out, will I ever get a job, will I manage to pay rent or mortgage this month, plus many other trivial things. The funny part is, we live through them without even acknowledging God’s hand in resolving our dilemmas. If only we can trust in God and in His son Jesus Christ, then we can afford to rejoice and praise Him even in tough times.
2nd Corinthians4:8-9 says, “We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.”
This is a verse than almost everybody can relate to. Success does not come easy. One goes through a lot of failures, but he who gets back up and dusts himself takes up the challenge once more until he makes it. It does not matter how many times one has to go through the experience, but only those who are determined, those who maintain clear vision and objectives and stay on their paths make it to the end. Quitters never win, and winners never quit.
Hebrews 10:35 – 36 says, “So do not lose the courage you had in the past, which has great reward. You must hold on, so you can do what God wants and receive what He has promised.”
Many are the times when you embark on something exciting or something new, there is usually a new form of energy, boldness and desire to pursue that which you want to achieve. However, as the journey ensues, you run out of steam, and many eventually give up. However, this scripture reminds us to keep holding onto the courage we began with, and hold on irrespective of the challenges and discouragements that may cloud your path. The end results are fruitful and satisfying. Just as beginning a course and pursuing it to the very end, in spite of difficult exams in between. I have always argued that the success of the journey is not in its end, but in the course of it.
