Yes, today, on this 5th day of Thanksgiving I am thankful for my whirlpool tub. I say my whirlpool tub because even though it may be used by other members of my family at times, it is definitely my little piece of heaven.
And yep, I am being a tad bit selfish here. Thankful for a whirlpool tub (my great escape)? How self-centered am I? Well, I’ll tell you.
I am a work-at-home freelance writer and video blogger who is also a mother, significant other, housekeeper, laundry doer, errand runner, and (these days) cook. My day starts very early in the morning and generally does not end till very late at night.
Because I work from home I have no “real” schedule; therefore, I am often called upon to do this or that, which would not be possible if I had a regular old 9-5 sort of job. I am not complaining – please know – simply stating facts.
And you should also know that I love my life; I love my j.o.b.(s). ALL of them. And most days I handle them pretty darn well. At least that’s what I hear from my “bosses” (the kid, the other, the dog, my readers, etc.).
But some days are just plain exhausting. And on those days I am especially thankful for my whirlpool tub (my great escape). Its nothing special, really. Just a slightly larger than normal bathtub with fabulously situated jets, (which) happens to reside in our bathroom.
I love my whirlpool tub. If I am lucky enough, I get to slip away once or twice* a week and lose myself in a wonderfully heated bath – away from everything and everyone. (Though I am a multi-tasker and often use this time to catch up on emails, tweets, whatever my writer friends are penning, and Facebook statuses, etc.)
You see? I don’t have many things in this house that are just for me. And I am quite fine with that. I can share my “toys” with the best of them. But I am a bit selfish about my whirlpool tub. It is my great escape, after all.
So if you call or write or need a favor and you simply cannot find me – don’t bother. I’m probably in the whirlpool tub and I do not wish to be disturbed. Give me 20 more minutes and I will get right back to you – refreshed and ready to go.
But for now I am enjoying a little taste of heaven and not feeling the least bit guilty about it. My great escape, my whirlpool tub – thank you!
My Great Escape – My Whirlpool Tub
FYI: I do bathe more than once or twice* a week but it’s a shower most days. I apologize if that is more than you needed to know; I am not a dirty girl!
**Special Thanks** to G for allowing me to claim the whirlpool tub as my own!
Please Note: I did mention that my thankful list would include people, places, and things, didn’t I? And I honestly wanted to give you a break from all the mushy stuff; even for just one day. Wait…you didn’t get all choked up reading about my whirlpool tub, did you? Ah well, that’s okay; it is a great escape! Stay tuned for tomorrow when I share with you why I am so very thankful for my brother (he’s a keeper for sure)!
