When we go on diets or what I like to call “Life style change” or “Way of eating” it’s just plain hard at times to stick to it! Things happen… stress, injuries, family issues and other totally understandable things that just seem to want to sabotage you at every waking moment!
Don’t worry, I will share my own personal top 5 easy ways to stick to your diet plan… no matter what!
1. Always pack snacks!
No matter what plan you are following there is something for everyone that can fit your lifestyle. Snack size Ziploc baggies now come in 100-calorie sizes. This is a very good idea for carrying around nuts, veggies and protein snacks such as pepperoni slices or sticks, Jerky, Cheese cubes, Bite size rice cakes, Dry cereal, etc. The options are endless. Just be sure not to over stuff the bag.
2. Drink lots of water!
You hear that all the time, right? But you don’t enjoy plain water and think there is no options. That is where I have the solution for you. I have personally taste tested a number of add to water products in my time dieting and I have to say that Crystal Lite is simply delicious. It has turned me into a water drinker for the first time in my life! You too can get your water in. And let me tell you, Drinking water is a huge assistant to weight loss. My favorite flavor is Raspberry lemonade! Single serving packets make it easy to add to 16oz cup or water bottle. No excuses!
3. Pen and paper.
Another tip you have most likely heard a time or two is “Write everything down!” But really, who has time!? Right?….. You do! It takes only a few seconds to jot down what you just ate or drank. Soon enough you will come to like doing it and want to do it. It’s a great self motivator and help to be able to look back at your day and see what you have consumed!
4. Get a support system.
Don’t worry if you have no family or friends who are supportive of your diet plan. A lot of times, people around us just cant imagine us any other way then we are right now. And maybe they just don’t want you to change. But remember you are not doing this for anyone else but YOU. If that is the case then you should join online diet forums and groups. They offer a lot of support and love for just about any plan you could be doing.
If you are lucky enough to have friends and family that support your lifestyle change then great! Talk to them and find someone who can hold you accountable for your daily food and drink choices. Who you can openly talk to about your weight. Your ups and downs and everything in between. Even so, I would recommend joining any of the hundreds of online support groups. But keep in mind, YOU are your best support and cheerleader. The will and motivation must come from you.
5. Do your homework!
Know the ins and outs of your current plan. It’s not smart to jump right in and just wing it. Sometimes we think we know everything there is to know about a certain plan, because lets face it… it’s probably not the first time you have been on it, right? Things change! Time passes from the last time we fell off the wagon and it’s a good idea to go over the plan again just incase something changed or they added new features, tools or tips.
