Halo Reach will most likely be voted video game of the year. Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3 were all great, but Halo Reach is different, it stands out. The creators of Halo Reach, Bungie, has done an amazing job. However anything, no matter how great it is, has room for improvement!
#1 Change up the Elites Weaponry
One of the great things that Halo Reach has, that Halo 3 didn’t have, is the choice to either play a game as an elite, or as a spartan. Although I love this option, I feel that the elites are lacking in the weaponry department. When you play as a spartan you are able to choose from strong weapons such as a sniper, concussion rifle, plasma launcher, a sword, a shotgun, or rockets. However when you play as an Elite the only strong weapons that are available to use is a plasma launcher, a concussion rifle, a sword, or the new alien sniper. Although Elites have their own rockets in fire fight mode, they can’t be used in any other type of matchmaking. Bungie should allow the Elite rockets to be used in regular matchmaking as well. Bungie should also create a new shot gun that is specifically designed for Elites. If Bungie decided to make a brand new elite shotgun, I think that they could get very creative, and come up with something really cool. Perhaps they could design the shot gun like the plasma pistol except make it bigger, and contain more powerful bullets. They should also get rid of the new Elite Sniper, and bring back the old Elite Sniper that was so great in Halo 3. In my opinion the new Elite sniper that they added shouldn’t be called a sniper. It’s nothing like a sniper because it uses a beam instead of bullets. It’s also very hard to kill someone with unless you are beaming them directly in the head, which can be tricky.
#2 The betrayal system
If your like me, you have been booted from a game several times from accidentally killing a team mate. There always has to be that one person who knows you didn’t mean to betray them, but still boots you. Although i’m sure it’s tricky to make a perfect working betrayal system, I think it could be better. I’ll give you one example of how bad this betrayal system can be. Recently I played a game in Swat, and there was one player that purposely betrayed me three times. Not once did I get the option to boot him, and towards the end of the game I accidentally betrayed him once, and he was able to boot me. I think that Bungie should change the betrayal system by giving the option to boot some one after that particular person has betrayed some one at least twice. By doing this, it will lessen the chance of some one getting booted because they accidentally betrayed some one. It will also make it so the people that purposely betray people get booted, since people who purposely betray tend to betray a team mate more then once.
#3 The armor effects
Currently there are only two armor effects available to buy with credits. One is the pestilence effect, and the other is the lightening effect. Although I do like the lightening effect which costs 2,000,000 credits, I don’t see the significance of the pestilence effect which costs 1,000,000. One very cool idea for an armor effect would be a helmet with a halo. I think this would be a good idea because it would match great with the game, after all the name of the game is Halo. Hopefully when Bungie adds new armor effects, they will be good ones.
#4 Raise the daily credit limit
The daily credit limit is 60,000 credits. If you have reached 60,000 credits with in 24 hours, it tells you that you have reached your maximum credit limit. After you have reached the credit limit, you can still play, but not earn credits, until the 24 hours is up. In other words if you began playing at 5PM, and you reached your maximum credit limit at 1AM, you would have to wait until 5PM to be able to earn anymore credits. If you are a decent player you will earn around 1,000 credits a game. So this means after playing 60 games, you will have reached the credit limit. While this might sound perfectly reasonable, to some people it isn’t. Many people who play Halo play for hours, and hours at a time. They practically play it all day, this being said, the credit limit isn’t very fair to them. Although when they hit their credit max, it should be a sign that they should go outside and get some sunlight, that is besides the point. The reason Bungie made a daily credit limit is because of hackers, and so people won’t rank up to fast. I’m sure that Bungie has the technology to prevent hacking in other ways besides creating a daily credit limit. I am also sure that Bungie wants to keep the people that play the game happy. I’m not going to suggest that they change it to where there is no credit limit. If there was no limit then players would start ranking up too fast, begin buying expensive soughed after armor, and lose interest. This being said, they should raise their credit limit. They should raise it to about 120,000 credits. By doing this it would make players happier, hackers wouldn’t earn too many credits, and players wouldn’t rank up too fast.
#5 The in game microphone settings
Sure it’s fun to talk trash to the other team, but being able to hear the other team should stop in the lobby. During the game you are still able to hear other players talking if they are in your vicinity. This can be bad if you are playing swat, snipers, or slayer pro. Although these game variants don’t have a radar, your voice can practically be the other teams radar, which can be bad. Since team mates tend to make call outs, and tell their team mates what their next move will be, it can be bad as well. This being said if you are communicating with your team at all, and you are in the area of a player on the other team, they are going to hear anything that you say. I think that Bungie should change this and make it to where opposing teams are only able to hear each other before and after the game.
