There are currently nine different ways to have your Sims die in Sims 3. Most of these can be done easily, though some take a little work to make happen. No matter what your reason is for killing your character, you should be able to find everything you need in this article.
How To Die: Fire
Catching your Sims on fire is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make them die. This death can be achieved one of three ways.
The first way is to build a small room with an oven, fridge, and counter in it. You may also want to remove the door of the room to prevent your Sims from escaping. Then tell your Sims to prepare a meal, such as mac and cheese. Once they put the food on the oven, cancel the task and have them do something else. Eventually this will result in a fire. If your Sims are left in a room with alone with the fire, they will eventually burn to death and die.
The second way to achieve this is to do the same thing, but instead of using an oven, use the inventing table found in Sims 3 Ambition. As you Sims try to invent, they should eventually end up catching their butt on fire, which will cause them to die within an hour if left untreated.
The third way to have your character die from fire is to set off a firework in your home. This can only be done if you have World Adventure, but it will catch them on fire every time.
After your Sims die of fire, they will become an orange ghost that wants to shower more than normal.
How To Die: Drowning
Having your Sims die by drowning is difficult in Sims 3. In previous games all you had to do was remove the ladder of your pool and they’d die quickly. Now, you need to make a pool, get your Sims to swim in it, then build a concrete wall around it. This can be hard to do because if you leave any room at all, your Sims will climb out of the pool and rest.
Depending on how tired your Sim is, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours before they drown.
After your Sim dies of drowning, they will become a blue ghost.
How To Die: Electrocution
Having your Sims die by electrocution is another quick and easy way. All you need for this to happen is the cheapest dishwasher. The dishwasher breaks fairly easily, and once it does it will leak water all over your floor. When that happens, have your Sims tinker with appliance and they’ll get zapped. In order to die from electrocution, you have to get zapped twice, so have them continue to tinker.
If you’re having a hard time getting your dishwasher to break, you can also put a sprinkler in your house, turn it on, and tinker with another electrical appliance, like the tv.
After your Sim dies of electrocution, they will become a yellow ghost.
How To Die: Starvation
Having your Sims die of starvation takes a while, but requires no effort on your part. All you have to do for them to die is to simply not give them a fridge. After a few days of crying about how hungry they are, they’ll drop dead.
After your Sim dies of starvation, they will become a purple or pink ghost. They were also be very skinny and will often wander into Sims houses in search of food.
How To Die: Meteor
One of the rarest ways for your Sims to die is by meteor. You can increase the odds of a meteor death happening by having your Sims outside a lot. Once a meteor begins to fall, the music will change and you’ll get an alert saying “Your Sims wonder why it got dark all of the sudden…” Then a large meteor will come crashing down from the sky and kill them.
This is a new way to die that was introduced in Sims 3 Ambition, so if you don’t have that installed, it won’t work. There are also mods to increase the odds of a meteor hit happening if you’re sick of waiting for it to happen naturally.
After your Sim dies of a meteor hit, they will become a orange and black.
How To Die: Old Age
The most natural way for Sims to die is of old age. This happens when you have an elderly sim that has reaches the end of their life. There’s no way to force this to happen, though you can speed it up by changing the lifetime status to short. Do this by going to the option menu in the game.
If you don’t have any elderly Sims, you can age your current Sims up using the birthday cake. Once they become an elder, all you have to do is wait for nature to take it’s course.
After your Sim dies of a old age, they will become a white ghosts that naps more than usual.
How To Die: Death By Trap
Your Sim can also die by mummy curse if you have World Adventure. This happens if they enter a tomb, get caught in a mummy trap, and you make no effort in lifting the curse.
There are many different types of traps in World Adventure, but only the Mummy trap is lethal.
How To Die: Mummy Curse
Another way that Mummys can cause your Sim to die is if they put a curse on you. This can happen when you come in contact with a mummy and they breathe a dark haze on your Sims. You will then get an alert telling you that your character has been cursed.
If your Sim does not cure the mummy curse within two weeks, they will die.
How To Die: Death By Thirst
In Sims 3: Late Night you will be able to turn your character into Vampires. Vampires will then have their food meter replaced with a thirst meter. If a vampire fails to find enough blood or plasma to drink, they will die, just as a normal sim would starve to death.
Because Sims 3 Late Night hasn’t come out yet, it’s unclear what type of ghost this will create.
