Little Debbie Pumpkin Delights is a seasonal product that generally begins appearing in stores around the end of August and starts disappearing come the first or second week of November. In Texas, it is still hot come September and it does not even feel like summer is on its way out, but somehow, buying a box of these palatable Pumpkin Delights makes the world outside my window seem a bit cooler. These cookies just seem to scream autumn to me. For one thing, the cookies resemble a pumpkin’s face, and pumpkin is something that I associate with Halloween and Thanksgiving, and both Halloween and Thanksgiving are a part of the autumn season. Not only do the cookies resemble a pumpkin’s face, but they are filled with pumpkin in various spots, too. The pumpkin filling is sweet and rich. The cookies also have some molasses flavoring as well, and the combination of pumpkin and molasses results in something quite delicious to the taste buds. The cookies are sweet, as mentioned, but if I have one or two at some point during the afternoon, they do not spoil my appetite for dinner. The cookies do not weigh me down or feel filling.
Eight cookies come in a box and the cheapest I have found them is for one dollar and fifty cents at Walmart. The cookies sometimes appear sloppily made, with the faces of the pumpkins looking mighty disfigured, and rarely do the cookies end up looking as nice as they do on the box that they come in, but really, how the cookie looks is pretty irrelevant. As long as the cookie tastes good, I’m a satisfied customer. The cookies themselves are kind of fragile. As I mentioned, this is a soft cookie. As I eat the cookie, I sometimes can feel it breaking up as I am holding it between my fingers. This is not really a big problem, but it can result in a small mess due to crumbs and part of the cookie may even go to waste if a portion of the cookie breaks off and falls. For that reason, it is important that these cookies be handled with care and attention. As for the size of the cookies, one fits in the palm of my hand, so I consider the cookies to be the right size as they are not very small, but they are not ridiculously large either. I feel for one dollar and fifty cents, I am getting a good value for my money. The cookies taste good, eight come in a box and I am fine with the size of the cookie. I would rather purchase a box of Little Debbie Pumpkin Delights than a pumpkin pie at the grocery store because of how good the cookies taste and how satisfying they are to have.
Little Debbie Pumpkin Delights are delightfully delicious and I look forward to seeing these cookies in stores at the end of August every year because for me, they have come to represent the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. The sweet pumpkin and molasses flavors, the smiling pumpkin face shape of the cookie and the soothing brown and orange colors all play a role in conjuring up thoughts and feelings within me that are tied to the autumn season. Thus, as silly as it may sound, eating these cookies invokes a certain happiness in me due to my love for the autumn season. I consider these cookies to be excellent in taste and value and I just know that if Little Debbie discontinued these cookies one year, autumn would never quite be the same for me.
