Las Vegas fixture Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas drag show is an experience everyone should have in their lives. The glitz, the gowns, the glamour, the beautiful… men? It’s a veritable Bob Mackie spectacular. Frank Marino’s impersonation of Joan Rivers as the host is hilarious; snarky, self-depricating, and biting humor steal the show from the musical performances with acerbic social criticism ranging from pop culture to himself. Many of the jokes are received with delayed reactions as the crowd looks around to make sure that it’s socially appropriate to laugh at such cutting humor. Among the moreappropriate jokes: “Did you hear about Lorena Bobbitt… she was in a car accident this week. I guess some dick cut her off.”
The Liza Minnelli impersonator was unparalleled, leaving the audience uncertain as to whether it wasn’t really Liza herself there. Whether you can’t afford tickets to see Celine at Caesar’s Palace or you just want to marvel at the sheer mechanical feat of where the Cher impersonator puts “it” in the “If I Could Turn Back Time” bodysuit, make a date to see Liza Minnelli, Cher, Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, and Madonna under one roof at Imperial Palace.
