Waller can be a great place for people watching. Recently, I was hanging out waiting for a bus in Cole Valley. On the street corner, there was on older woman digging through her bags. An unfashionably dressed person approached her asking for a favor. She asked him if he had attended clown college.
Immediately, I started thinking about what to buy my friend’s kids for the holidays. After all, there is an actual clown college right in Cole Valley. Acting classes at the San Francisco Clown Center would be perfect for the 7-10 year olds that I know. I certainly do not want to buy them, yet another, piece of technology. With acting classes, it’s like combining exercise and fun for them and unexpected paid babysitting for their parents.
I was glad that the older woman decided to speak her mind and remind me of what we have here in this neighborhood. When considering gifts for family and friends try and think locally as much as possible. So far, I’ve been doing my holiday shopping and planning around Google Maps. I’m trying to be creative in selecting places that fit my shopping list that I find in Cole Valley.
Part of the reason I am doing this is due to my newest fascination with “Greener Holidays”. I am finding, so far, that Cole Valley has answered most of my prayers. One other idea I have had so far is a walking tour of Cole Valley composed of gift cards from businesses in the area. I plan on sharing this with co-workers and a new neighbor.
