In Critter Island you own a small island that you design to attract tourists. The more you have on your island, the higher amount of tourists you will have come to your island. In this game it is all about what the tourists want. If you can fulfill their needs, you will have a successful island.
The majority of the coins in the Critter Island are made from the tourists. Each tourist has a rating of how much they have spent on your island, what the tip percentage is, and how happy they are. The amount spent is dependent on how many attractions you have available. The more attractions you have the more likely you will be to have the tourist spend more coins on your island. Happiness is dependent on how long a tourist has to wait to do the thing they want to do on your island. If the tourist wants food and you do not have food available before they have to leave, then they will be unhappy. Happy tourists lead to more tourists coming to the island.
There are several different attraction types available to purchase in Critter Island for coins or credits. The four types are food, drink, souvenirs, and entertainment. Be sure to have a mix of all of these types. As you get more tourists they will need all of the types of attractions available to keep them happy. All attractions earn you coins which give you the coins needed to upgrade or buy more things for your island. Also be sure to stock the attractions on your island. The tourists use up one item per purchase and if you run out of items, the tourists cannot spend their coins at that attraction.
Decorations and Entertainers
Decorations in Critter Island have a luxury rating. The higher the rating the more your popularity goes up. The higher your popularity goes the more tourists will come to your island. Entertainers do not last long on Critter Island, but while they are there they will double the tips of nearby tourists. This can make you a lot of coins if placed near your higher paying attractions.
There are two types of currency that are used in Critter Island. The most common is coins. Coins are earned by tips from the attractions, quests, and by visiting and helping your neighbors. You can also increase your tips by collecting stars. These will drop every eight hours and will increase your tips by three hundred percent if you collect them all. More valuable than coin is the rare credits. Credits purchase items that are far superior to anything you can buy with coins. The credit is a rare item and the fastest way to get them is by purchasing them with real world money.
Expanding the Island and Upgrades
Eventually you will run out of space on Critter Island. The easiest way to expand is to get more friends as neighbors to unlock an expansion. You can also purchase an expansion with credits. Upgrading your attractions is critical to success in Critter Island. When you upgrade you will expand the number of items the attraction can hold in stock, increase the amount of tourists that can use the attraction, and get more money per tourist. Also once you get to level ten do not forget to upgrade your dock.
Critter Island like most Facebook games is much easier to play if you have friends on Facebook. Your neighbors can help you by increasing tips or stocking your stores. You can also send and receive gifts that will help you on your island. Neighbors are also critical to expand your island and unlock certain things in the game. I guess it’s true no man is an island even on Critter Island.
