In the new Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft, the Horde is gaining Goblins as a new playable race. This comes as great news for the many players that have been wanting to play as a Goblin since the game first came out six years ago. In this article you will find the essential information about the playable Goblin race, including available Classes and Racial Abilities.
Available Goblin Classes
Goblins can choose from a total of eight different classes. The choices include Death Knight, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior.
The Goblin mount is a three-wheeled motorcycle called a Trike, which is fitting considering the Goblins’ engineering background.
Goblin Racial Abilities
Best Deals Anywhere – This passive ability gives you the cheapest price when buying from vendors, regardless of your reputation with the vendor’s faction. This racial ability might not seem like much, but all the little savings add up over time. More gold in your pocket is certainly never a bad thing.
Better Living through Chemistry – This passive ability lets Goblins start with their Alchemy skill increased by 15. Starting with an increased Engineering skill like the Gnomes do might have made more sense, but apparently Blizzard wanted the racial abilities for each class to be unique.
Pack Hobgoblin – This racial ability lets you summon your personal Hobgoblin servant for 1 minute, from which you can access your bank. This ability is great for the times when you are questing or in a dungeon, and you run out of bag space. Instead of having to choose which items to keep and which to destroy (or having to go back to town before you are finished), you can just call your trusty Hobgoblin and put your excess items in the bank. This skill does have a cooldown of 30 minutes, but you really shouldn’t need to use it more often than that.
Rocket Barrage – This racial ability lets you launch rockets from your belt at an enemy, dealing fire damage that scales with your level. This ability isn’t that great, seeing as it has a 2 minute cooldown that is shared by the Rocket Jump racial ability, but it can add a little bit of extra damage when needed.
Rocket Jump – This ability lets you activate your rocket belt to jump forward. This will be especially good for PVP, as it will let you close the distance if you are a melee attacker, or get away from enemies if you are taking heavy damage. It has the same shared 2 minute cooldown with the Rocket Barrage ability.
Time is Money – This passive ability gives you a 1% increase to your attacking and casting speed. Definitely not a huge difference, but it will help out in raids where every little bit counts.
The Bottom Line
The Goblins look to be a strong addition to the Horde, and should be very popular among players with their useful racial abilities.
