A recent National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior was conducted and the results may surprise many. First, the nation as a whole is not having as much sex as you may thing. Yet, our older population may be having more sex than you think.
Here is a brief summary of their findings.
Our teenagers are becoming more responsible. This is probably due to the fact that more and more teens are being sexually educated. The report sates that 70% to 80% of all teens admitted that they did use a condom the last time they had sex. This is good news.
However, teens may not be having as much sex as you think. Many of the teens also stated that it has been at least ninety days since their last sexual encounter.
Of the teens that are having sex, 40% percent of those surveyed were boys and 30% were girls. Most of the teens admitted that they were beginning to think about experimenting with sex by the age of 14 to 15 years of age.
Yet, it wasn’t the teens and the facts that surround them that was the most shocking. The most shocking information that was found when the study was completed was the fact that many women over the age of 40 admitted to not using a condom while having sexual relations. These were women who were beginning new relationships.
The reason most women over the age of 40 were not concern with usingcondoms was the fact that they could no longer get pregnant. They were forgetting the fact that they were and are still in danger of sexually transmitted diseases. This could be why there is a small rise in cases of HIV throughout the country in some communities, especially in those of around the age of 60 years old.
The study also showed that men and women continued to enjoy sexual relations on into their eighties and nineties.
Finally, the study found that 85% of the men who were surveyed believed that their partner climaxed the last time they had sex. Yet, when their partners were interviewed only 65% of them actually said they actually did climax. This shows that there must be a bit of communication break down between some couples.
What does this study prove?
It proves that our teenagers may be listening. It also proves that yes our teenagers are having sex, yet maybe they are doing other things as well. It also proves that possibly the adults in our nation needs to be educated again on the importance of using condoms and the health risks of having unprotected sex.
