Fricker’s Restaurant is conveniently located directly next to the Mud Hen’s baseball stadium on North St. Clair Street. In fact, one side of the restaurant directly overlooks the stadium. Location is definitely one of the selling points of the restaurant. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
As previously mentioned the restaurant has a prime location. It is close to the stadium, conference center and also the downtown waterfront where concerts are often held. On a non-game night, parking should never be an issue. There free parking after 5pm downtown and there are many spaces on the street as well as neighboring streets. There are also many parking lots and parking garages within walking distance.
The restaurant is a decent size and has plenty of seating. The bar itself features a number of seats as well. The restaurant appears to be pretty well kept, the floor, bar and tables are kept very clean. The bathrooms are clean for standard sports bar bathrooms.
The restaurant has always been very well staffed. There have always been an abundance of hostesses, bartenders and waitresses. The bar seems to be staffed extremely well even on game nights. When either ordering a drink or a bite to eat, I have always received prompt service.
I would rate the food well above average for a sports bar. The food is reliable, meaning you can order the same item on multiple occasions and know what you will be receiving. Fricker’s is known for, and I would highly recommend the chicken wings. They can come breaded or non-breaded. They are often heavily covered in sauce, but you can request light sauce or the sauce on the side. There is a very large selection of sauces, many of them with quite a kick. A full menu can be found at www.frickers.com.
Fricker’s has great daily drink and food specials, with some of the lowest prices in the area. I would highly recommend this restaurant. For a sports bar, it is well above par. If you are looking forward to a night of bar food, beer and sports definitely check out Fricker’s downtown. It lives up to it’s slogan of, “Fun, food, sports, spirits.”
