First of all, I do not believe in ghosts. I’m hardly spiritual and i only believe something when i see it. But this night was extremely odd, and 5 years after it happened, my horrors were reiterated.
When I was thirteen years old, my friend Drew and I started walking towards my new girlfriends house to go see her. It was the Summer and we decided it would be fun to take the walk up to Buck Hill Road in Pascoag, Rhode Island. (Keep in mind that this is before any experimentation with any recreational drugs) The walks distance was about 3 miles in total, and it was pitch dark out. Most of the roads in Pascoag have very few streetlights. As we made our way around Wilson’s Resevoir, we noticed something in the road about 50 feet ahead. I instantly thought it was a deer standing in the road. Curious, Me and Drew continued to walk towards the creature. As we got without plain sight of the creature, we realized that this animal was enormous. It was a silvery color and appeared to actually be a very large dog. I got a very weird feeling looking at this thing, and as it took a step towards us, me and Drew turned on our heels and ran as fast as we could. I looked over my shoulder to see the dog trotting behind us. I put my head down and tried to run faster. I looked back again seconds later to see if the dog was gaining on me… only to see nothing. The dog was gone, apparently vanishing into thin air. Me and Drew sat down in the street and talked about the encounter. We were horrified. After a couple of minutes, we shurgged the incident off and continued walking to my girl’s house.
This is the strange part for me. Five years later, I was at another friend’s house. I had told him about the story of the dog on Buck Hill years before and he found it interesting. He told me he had to show me something. He handed me a book, called “Haunted Rhode Island”…. The book was opened to a chapter called The Phantom Dog on Buck Hill. As i read the chapter in the book, goosebumps filled my arms and i lost my voice. The chapter described that for over 50 years, numerous town goers reported a strange dog in the Buck Hill Area. Silvery in color, the dog appears and vanished into thin air after scaring its victims.
I have no reason to lie and this is a true story. I had no idea of this books existence until i was shown the book 5 years after the incident. I believe that this all could be a huge coincidence, but i have been taught in my life that there is no such thing as a coincidence. All i know is that when i read that chapter in this book, I got the most eerie feeling of my life thinking back on the night that this same dog scared the crap out of me.
