Acuvue Oasys Soft Contacts with Hydraclear Plus is a product of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. Hydraclear Plus is a wetting agent used to keep the contacts moisturized. My eye doctor explained to me that Acuvue Oasys soft contacts have twice as much hydraclear as the Acuvue Advance lenses I used to wear, and they allow more oxygen to get through to the eye. I needed this because I had blood vessels that were visible caused by the lack of oxygen to my eyes. I was buying a lot of artificial tears eye drops to try and combat the dryness, but they would only help temporarily.
The receptionist at my eye doctor’s office told me that she wears Acuvue Oasys contacts and recommended that I try them. I figured I might as well try them since my eye doctor provides a trial pair that I could wear for one week to see how they feel. I was hoping these lenses would be the answer I needed to improve my dry and red eyes.
The average price is about $27.99 per box. I ordered two boxes, one for each eye, which is a six month supply. There are six lenses in each box. I wear each pair for one month and then throw them away. After six months I will have to order another two boxes. I could order a year supply initially, but I didn’t have the money to do that at the time. Acuvue Oasys lenses do cost more than the Acuvue Advance, but I was able to save some money by ordering the contacts online instead of buying them from my eye doctor’s office.
When I put these contacts in for the first time, I could not even tell I had them in. They are easy to put in and very comfortable. Sometimes I wear them for 16 hours a day without them drying out. Even when I am staring at my computer for long periods of time, they remain wet. I have also noticed an improvement when I enter air conditioned places and when I sit near a fan.
Another great thing about these contacts is that they contain UVA and UVB protection. The added protection helps block transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. This is very beneficial to me because I don’t always wear sunglasses, especially when driving.
The last thing to note about Acuvue Oasys soft is that they are visibility tinted blue. This makes the contacts easy to see when I take them out. At night, I rinse them with contact solution and store in a case until morning. I have not had any problems with these contacts. In fact, the increased oxygen my eyes are getting everyday has made my eyes look and feel healthier.
