Any man or woman has bought themselves a pair of shoes. The process sounds relatively easy but it usually becomes an intense one because of all the amenities that we usually are looking for. However, there are times in which we want something simple and easy. Maybe it is because a heel broke, our feet hurt, or a change is needed. British inventor Michael Stead understands this feelings has come up with one of the best shoe ideas ever: biodegradable shoes that come out of a vending machine.
You might have just had a “why the hell” moment just now. Why would someone ever need to purchase shoes from a vending machine and how is this even possible might be what your pondering. This is possible because Stead’s shoes can compact easily because it is simply comprised up of natural, sustainable materials. These materials can biodegrade in the same amount of time as an oak leaf. You could simply wear these shoes one time and toss them into the woods knowing that you are not polluting the earth in the process.
The line of shoes is called Afterheels. They are a bunch of different ballet flats that are designed for women to wear them like a slipper. However, they can compact enough that they can fit inside of a carton the same size as a cigarette box. This is what makes it possible for the shoes to be dispensed out of a vending machine to a paying customer. The best thing is that since they are made out of biodegradable material that they are incredibly cost effective at a price of $8.
There is even more good news about these shoes. Stead ensured that the shoes are waterproof, he protective insoles that make sure your feet can’t be hurt by glass, and are incredibly comfortable as well. Understanding that the shoes needed to be attractive to the consumer as well, Stead also has made the shoes available in a wide variety of colors. You can now see why the shoes are flying out of vending machines all over Europe.
Stead is currently only developing the shoes for sale in Europe. He does have plans to eventually produce them for the United States. There is a big market out there for those who want to change their shoes but simply do not have an extra pair to do so. By offering an affordable alternative that can be bought on the fly Stead has tapped into a market that has gone untapped. Keep your eyes open for this amazing product.
