When you live in a world of violence, and when a violent crime can be committed at anytime day or night, you need to know how to defend you and your loved ones. Now one thing that would like to state right off the bat is that training in any form of combat does not make you invincible it only makes you better prepared for the fight. Although in this day and age any valid street defense tactic is a valuable.
Over the last 18 years I have trained in a lot of different methods of combat. Here, 18 years later, I have developed a system that I like to be known as Aggression Control Tactics, or A.C.T for short. A.C.T is a battle tested system that I have used to defend myself since I developed it 6 years ago.
Now before we go into any of the tactics there are a few things that I would like to state. One before you start train in the method of combat, or any other method of combat, you get a check up with your doctor to make sure that you are physically well enough to start a training program.
The second thing that I would like to state is that no matter how good you get you should always train constantly. As well even if you have the techniques down you cannot use them without the proper conditioning to be able to last in a streetfight. Once again training in any form of combat does not make you invincible it will only better prepare you for the fight.
Now in order to survive the street fight you need a lot of things, but the main thing that you need is physical conditioning. For without physical conditioning all the combat techniques in the world will do you know good. Now there are different types of physical conditioning, there is muscular and there is cardiovascular.
When it comes to muscular nothing works better than good old calisthenics , combined with isometrics or what is called Dynamic strength training. Now for the other type of conditioning which once again is cardiovascular. Now when it comes to cardiovascular I personally like doing shadowboxing combined with running in place and jumping jacks.
Now here I am going to give some exercises and how to perform them. These first exercises that I am going to describe are calisthenics. The exercises that I am going to explain are Push-ups, Squats, and crunches.
There is no better exercise than the push-up in my opinion. It is an entire upper body builder. Now here is how to do a push-up. Start out with your body stretched out supported with your hands and your feet. Slowly lower your body until your nose touches the ground. Slowly raise your body back up until your are fully extended. That is all there is to doing a push-up. Now as far as the number of reps and sets you should do all I am going to say is you should do only what you are comfortable with.
Now this is another easy exercise to do, and as well it is the best exercise for the legs. Now here is how you do a squat. Start out with your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart. Slowly lower your body down until your low enough as though you were sitting in a chair. Raise your self back up until you are standing straight.–Crunches
Now when it comes to building the muscles in the abdomen the best exercise to use is the crunch. It is an abdominal exercise that builds the whole abdomen region. Here is how you do a crunch. Start by laying on your back with your knees bent. Next curl your head and body off the floor. Finally lower your body back to the floor.
Now as far as cardiovascular exercises go like I stated earlier I personally like shadowboxing, jogging in place . Here I am going to explain how to do these cardiovascular exercises.
First start off in a boxer stance with feet shoulder width apart and your hands in front of your face.Next start off with doing a jab cross combination for 30 secs. Now do the jab cross combination again, but this time add a hook punch to it. Do this for 30 secs. Now do steps 2 and 3, but this time add an uppercut. Do this for 30 secs. Now do steps 2-4 and move around while you are doing steps 2-4. Do this for 1 minute. Do 3-5 sets starting off with one minute on the first two sets. Do 1 ½ minutes for sets 3-4. Do 2 minutes for set 5.
Jogging in place
This is an easy one to do. All you have to do is stand and then bring your legs up and down as though you were jogging, but you are doing it without having to move forward. Now when you jog in place you should do this for 5 – 15 minutes or what ever you are capable of doing.
Okay folks now on to the good stuff. This is where we get into the actual techniques of my combat system. Now I believe that there are three main areas in which one should be knowledgeable in combat. Those three areas are Stand Up, Grappling, and Weapons. In the first section we are going to discuss, the stand up techniques of my system. Most of the stand up techniques in my system are what I call unconventional techniques. Weapons combat we will discuss in another article.
Now this is obviously a self explanatory technique. All you have to do is gather a quantity of saliva in your mouth and spit it into the persons face. Now this can be used as both a distraction techniques and as a finishing move. For when used as a distraction, it can open your aggressor up into other offensive tactics. Although when used as a finishing move as soon as it is done you can just walk or run away depending on whether or not it is one on one or multiple aggressors.
Now this technique you have to be close to your aggressor. To get in close use technique #1. Then once you have close to your aggressor clasp your hands behind his/her head, and put the aggressors head against your chest for better control.
This technique is self-explanatory. Now for this technique you need to be close to your aggressor. You can get from the first two techniques. Once you have gotten in close pick a target like the ear or the side of the neck. Now when you bite clench as hard as you can, and then wildly move your head back and forth like a dog does when they bite.
Angular Control Tactic
Now this technique is a good technique for when you are going against multiple aggressors. As well it is good for getting in close for other tactics. Here is how you achieve this technique. Start from the ready position with your hands ( depending on situation). Take your right arm ( or left depending.) and at a 45 degree angle drive your body into the aggressors shoulder. From here you can either go into a clinch and proceed to deliver knees and elbows, or you can run, or you can move on to the next attacker (depending on your situation.
In my opinion kneeing tactic are one of the most damaging tactics that you can have in your fighting arsenal. The knee is a hard bony area that can cause a lot of damage if done properly. The knee can break bones, and as well it can even kill a person if done to right spot. Here is how you perform the kneeing tactic. Use one of the entry tactics previously list to get in close. Once you get in go into the clinch. Next bring your striking knee back, and then thrust your knee inward into the target while leaning your body back.
Just like with kneeing tactics elbows are one of the most destructive tactics to have in your arsenal. As well just like the knees the elbows can break bones as well as can kill a person if delivered into the proper spot. Here is how you perform elbow techniques. Once again use previous discussed tactics to gain entry. Next go into the clinch. Now bring the striking elbow back and then bring it in a circling motion forward into the target.
As with the elbows and knees the head butt is as well on of the most dangerous tactics that a person can have in there arsenal. This can knock a person out, and break bones. Here is how you do a head butt. Gain entry using one of the entry tactics discussed earlier. When you gain entry go into the clinch. Once you have the clinch bring your head back and throw it forward attacking with the area of where the forehead and hairline meet.
Now the Foot Stomp is an excellent tactic to use against an aggressor. When it is done in the proper way in the proper place this can end a fight and as well can in fact cripple a person depending on how hard you stomp the persons foot. Here is how you do the Foot Stomp. Once again gain entry through one of the previous tactics. After getting go into the clinch. Next lift the striking foot and slam it down into upper part of the instep area.
Now this is a tactic that can stop just about any fight. This is a tactic that you can use for pain compliance and as well it can be used to maim someone. Here is how you do the Eye Gouge. Again use previous tactics to get in close. Once your inside go into the clinch. Now take your four fingers behind the jaw bone, and stick the thumb into the eye, and squeeze as though you were squeezing a griping device. Note about this tactic. If you put the thumb over the eye lid this tactic can be used to for pain compliance. If you place the thumb under the eye lid this tactic can be used to maim the attacker
Now when it comes to the whole grappling thing I personally believe that even though it is safe to take a person to the ground, but for safety reasons I do not believe that it is safe to go to the ground. So the tactics that I am going to discuss here mainly involve standing up. Now let’s talk about the two types of tactics that we are discussing in this section.
The first type are throwing tactics. These are tactics in which you can use to take a person to the ground. The next type of tactic that is used are choking and neck cranking tactics. These tactics can be used to choke a person out and be used for pain compliance. First we are going to discuss throwing tactics.
Now like I said about grappling I believe that it is safe to take a person to the ground, but it is not safe to go to the ground. Now here we are going to discuss throwing tactics. These are tactics that can be used to bring a person to the ground. Now before you attempt throwing tactics you should use elbow and kneeing tactics to soften the person up. Now after you soften the person up then proceed to throw them to the ground. Now once they are on the ground do your best to stay on your feet. Once you get the person on the ground follow up by doing stomping tactics and kicking tactics to various parts of the body. *Note if you end up on the ground as quickly as possible gouge the eyes or bite the so that you can stand back up and finish your attacker off.
Now this particular throw is done from the clinch. Now here is how you do this throwing tactic.
Gain entry. Once entry is gained go into the clinch. Now once you have the person clinched throw a few elbows and knees to soften the person up. Now drop your body while turning to either your left or right side and drag the person with you until they are on the ground. Finish off by stomping or kicking to the body.
Now for the second type of tactics in the grappling area. Now this set of tactics involves choking and cranking the neck. Now when you are training with these tactics be very careful because you can choke a person out or break a persons neck. So when you are training make sure that your partner knows how to tap so that they don’t get hurt. Now let’s go into the tactics.
This tactic is a choking tactic that you can use to either make a person comply or choke out if needed.
Now here is how you do this tactic. Gain entry. Go into the clinch. From the clinch pull the person’s body downwards. Put your right arm over the persons throat. Place the hand of the other arm on the attackers shoulder. Place right hand on left arm in bicep area. Now as you pull up and outward with the right arm, push against the shoulder with the left hand. Now proceed until the aggressor is either compliant or out.
Front Neck Crank
Now this tactic is similar to the previous tactic. The difference here is that instead of choking the person you crank the neck. Be careful with training this tactic for if you apply to much force to quickly you can break your training partners neck. Here is how you perform this tactic. Gain entry. Go into the clinch. Now pull aggressors body downward. Now turn the opponents head sideways and place right arm against jaw, while placing left hand on persons shoulder. Now place right hand on left arm in bicep area. Now as you pulling upward and outward on the person jaw area, push against the shoulder with the left hand. Now once again I state that when you train these tactics be careful as to not hurt your training partner cause these tactics can cause severe injury, brain damage, or even death.
Now once again I would like to state that training in any combat system will not make you invincible. It will only better prepare you for the fight. Nothing more nothing less. So if you are expecting to become invincible guess again. As well I would like to state that in a fight it is not the combat system that wins the fight it is the person that is using the combat system that wins the fight.
The tactics in this article are only for informational purposes. Train with these tactics at your own risk. The writer of this article is not responsible for any injuries to the person/s training with these tactics.
