Alabama vs. Arkansas is finally here Saturday. The Alabama vs. Arkansas game brings college football fans the best game of the year so far, as two of the best that the SEC has to offer will face off. Both Alabama and Arkansas are 3-0 coming into the weekend, with Alabama residing atop both national polls, and Arkansas currently ranked No. 10. With the game taking place in Arkansas, it raises the stakes for an Alabama team that is fresh off of winning the football national championship, and a victory could ensure that they maintain that No. 1 ranking ahead of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
For Alabama, they have made things look pretty easy this season, beating San Jose State, Penn State, and Duke along the way. While their offense has scored an impressive 134 points in those three games, the defense has proved to be even better. Right now Alabama has the second-ranked defense in the country, having given up only one touchdown and 20 total points on the season. Arkansas poses a much bigger threat to them than the first three opponents, though, and now they will have to bring their “A” game to the table on Saturday to keep that win streak going.
Arkansas had their first real test of the season last week when they went into Georgia and beat the Bulldogs 31-24. In that regard, they might be ready to play an opponent that is the caliber of this Alabama Crimson Tide team, and Saturday is the chance to prove that they belong with the big dogs of the NCAA this season. Quarterback Ryan Mallett is going to have to come up big, and he has done just that so far this season with 1,081 passing yards and nine touchdowns over the first three games for the Razorbacks. Arkansas will also be relying very heavily upon him and the deep receiver corps that the roster has.
The Alabama vs. Arkansas game takes place on Saturday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. EST, and the game will receive national coverage on CBS. This game is going to end up being a battle between the running game of Alabama and the passing game of Arkansas. The tandem of Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram in the backfield for the Crimson Tide could become too much to handle for the Arkansas defense, but that is what could make this an extremely interesting game on Saturday. The battle for the SEC West is going to be intense this season, and both teams have to win this game to remain in contention with LSU.
