Alright, this post is coming in late at night. I went out tonight. I was at various bars in town tonight. I had some drinks. Who were the people at the bars? The people that were at the bars were students and respectable members of society that previously went to Stout and people from the career conference. What were they doing? They were looking for Stout students that can go out and be civil and have a few drinks.
The tobacco ban is not realistic. I live off campus. I walk to class and see people smoking on corners just outside of campus. Granted most of them are Stout students, how do you know that they are not drug dealers from Menomonie that just want easy prey to pick on? It’s scary. Freshman smoke in the middle of the street because that is the only place they have to go. Who wants to hit a freshman with a car because they can’t smoke outside their dorm?
Let us talk about house parties. How old have the people that have died here at Stout been? I think they have all been of age to drink. Why focus on house parties and “keg parties” when the people that have died here at Stout are all of age?
Adding more Friday classes just makes people mad. Teachers and students alike have lives. They have jobs and families to attend to. Adding Friday classes just makes everything worse.
Addressing the topic of people that have died here recently — Did you go to Brad’s funeral? Did you know his family? I was there. It was beautiful and horrible. His dad came up to me and the group that I was with and thanked us. He told us that no one should ever have to go through what his family went through. Brad was a good kid. He had many friends and they all cared about him.
Why is Stout protecting the hockey team? They bring in revenue? I want to know why! I played hockey all my life. I have played in Canada and on AAA teams all over Minnesota. I understand the sport and the people that play the game. Protecting murderers and people that are witnesses to murder is not acceptable. They need to be punished. I don’t care where the players are from, why would university protect them? If this would have been a Greek related incident, the Greek community would have been dismissed.
Let’s talk about this topic. It is personal to me.
