These fun animal print monogram drink buckets are fun for any sort of sassy, female party gathering! Inexpensive and easy to create, they look like they came straight from a home entertaining magazine.
For this project, you will need (per drink bucket):
– One galvanized pail
– Medium or fine grit sandpaper
– Tack cloth or other type of soft cloth
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Black or Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Brown Boots
– Krylon Crystal Clear Spray Adhesive
– Animal print cotton fabric
– Black or brown solid colored cotton fabric
– Four inch circle stencil
– Three inch typewriter style monogram stencil
– Fabric marking pen
– Fabric scissors
– Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
To keep cleanup to a minimum after this drink bucket project is finished, it is best to first cover the work area with newspaper sheets or a large drop cloth. Turn the galvanized pail upside down. Use a few sheets of medium or fine grit sandpaper to smooth any rough or uneven areas on the metal. Wipe off any dust created from the sanding process with a tack cloth or other type of soft cloth.
Spray the entire outside of the galvanized pail using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the metal dry for a few hours. Paint the pail using either Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Black or Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Brown Boots. (This will depend on whether you are using a black or brown style animal print fabric.) Wait an hour, apply a second coat of paint, and then let the pail dry overnight.
Lay the sheet of animal print fabric out flat. Use a four inch circle stencil and a fabric marking pen to create the design onto the animal print fabric. Place the sheet of black or brown solid colored cotton fabric out flat. Trace the three inch typewriter style monogram onto the solid fabric. Cut out both designs using fabric scissors.
Spray the back of the solid colored monogram with Krylon Spray Adhesive. Adhere the monogram into the center of the animal print circle. Smooth the letter with your fingers to create any bubbling. Spray the back of the circle with adhesive. Adhere the circle onto the drink bucket. Dry for a few hours before filling the drink bucket with ice and inserting a variety of favorite bottled beverages for your guests.
TIP: For a totally sassy style, consider using brightly colored paint (pinks, oranges, greens, etc.) instead of brown or black.
