The jury on the Anna Nicole Smith Case has been deliberating for several weeks now and may soon reach a decision on whether or not her doctor’s and boyfriend are guilty of killing her by allowing her to take too many prescription drugs.
The two doctor’s contend that any drugs prescribed to Ms. Smith were given for the treatment of pain and illness and that they were not excessive.

According to ThirdAge.com (http://www.thirdage.com/news/anna-nicole-smith-trial-has-jury-struggle_10-28-2010), it’s a hung jury and they are deadlocked. The defendants in the case are her former boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, and Doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich. All three have pled not guilty to conspiracy in providing Anna Nicole Smith with excessive amounts of prescription drugs, which may have caused a deadly overdose. They face other charges as well.
Ms. Smith, a former model and television personality, was found unconscious in a hotel room and died in a hospital in South Florida at the age of 39. She was probably more noted for previously marrying an elderly billionaire several decades her senior (she was 26, he was 89 and in a wheelchair) and standing to inherit a fortune than she was for having any real talent other than her bodacious body and sexy blond bombshell appearance. Her deceased husband’s family continues to haggle over the money.
Ms. Smith gave birth to girl, Dannielynn Hope, just a few days before her son, Daniel, age 20, died somewhat suspiciously. It may have also been drug related.
There was some speculation as to whom Dannielynn’s father is; either Stern or Ms. Smith’s other former boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, who now has custody of the baby.
This is a sad story and tragic ending to the story of a beautiful girl, who just wanted to escape small-town life and make it big by any means necessary. Gotta admire her ambition and use of her assets, right?
The bottom line is that, like Michael Jackson, Ms. Smith was prescribed what turned out to be lethal doses of medications, which she may or may not have needed for illness.
If her boyfriend at the time condoned it and helped to provide her with drugs, then the three defendants are nothing more than drug dealers and should face a stiff sentence. Doctor’s can’t go around over-prescribing drugs all willy-nilly just because somebody is rich, wants them and can pay.
Doctors do have a duty of care and a code of ethics which they should honor, but we are beginning to see that in the world of fame and fortune everybody has a price, especially doctors. Look at not only the recent prescription drug overdoses, but the horribly plastic surgery that has some celebrities walking around looking aliens from a galaxy far, far away. It’s time about the doctors take responsibility for their greed. I am also aware the sometimes prescription drugs are blamed for celebrity deaths when it’s more likely street drugs or combination of both.
