It’s one of several not-so Skinny Italian pasta dishes at Applebee’s that should only be eaten the night before running a marathon or on a special once a year diet cheat day.
Other creamy and rich dishes which will not make you a skinny Italian include the Applebee’s Florentine Ravioli with chicken with ricotta-stuffed ravioli in a garlic Alfredo sauce for 1,410 calories and 90 grams of fat. Applebee’s also serves a chicken broccoli pasta alfredo with 1,420 calories and 81 grams of fat. Applebee’s three-cheese chicken penne with mozzarella, provolone and Parmesan cheese as well as basil and Alfredo sauce has an embarrassing 1,530 calories and 84 grams of fat.
If you are on a diet, and crave pasta, opt instead for the Spicy Shrimp Diavolo with whole wheat penne and shredded Parmesan. The Spicy Diavolo at Applebee’s, a skinny Italian woman’s better choice, has less than 550 calories and 10 grams of fat.
I tasted the Applebee’s Provolone-Stuffed With Fettuccine In Cream Sauce for my review. I borrowed, in fact, a few tastes from my son’s plate.
My teenage son’s only complaint with his order of the Applebee’s Provolone-Stuffed Meatballs was that there were not enough meatballs. I thought perhaps he would be turned off by the way the red marinara sauce blended on the plate with the white Alfredo sauce. In the end, I was just glad he left much of the fattening dish on his plate! It’s as much as some people eat in an entire day.
My three bites, I’m estimating, probably cost me about 150 calories and close to 10 grams of fat! But dietary information put aside, the meatballs were similar to the kind I make at home. They were tender and hearty. The marinara sauce was slightly sweet. The rich, creamy Alfredo sauce tasted rich and surprisingly delightful seeping into the red marinara sauce.
