Does it seem like you and your child are always running from one place to the next without much free time? Learn about how to not over schedule your child at the Challenge of Nurturing Emotional Intelligence Workshop, on December 8 from 7 to 9 p.m., 25 Churchill Avenue.
The workshop is jointly sponsored by the Parent Education and Community Outreach Committees of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Palo Alto and is a follow-up to Growing up Asian in Palo Alto workshop held earlier this year. Three expert panelists will discuss with parents the issues that arise from scheduling too many activities for your child, making decisions for your child instead of letting them do it themselves, and planning your child’s future. Parents will be able to discuss what they have learned at the workshop with others in a small group discussion at the meeting.
The PTA has challenged parents to write down their child’s schedule for the week to better visualize what their child’s schedule really is. A fill-in schedule worksheet was attached to a flyer that was sent out to parents in the Palo Alto Unified School District
