Are you on the other side of young? Are you a formerly? Are you older than thirty? Yet, are you not really old? Were you formerly considered hot? Were you a formerly considered an athlete? Were you formerly considered a punk? Were you formerly a bad a–? Were you formerly considered a drama queen? What are you now?
This is a question that is being answered in a new book written by Stephanie Dolgoff. The book is entitled: “My Formerly Hot Life: She was recently interviewed on the Today Show and she discussed how she felt like an adult tween.
She didn’t really feel old. Yet, she knew she wasn’t young. She used the phrase, ‘Life gets better this side of young.’
Think about it if you are over forty. You might not exactly feel quite as vigorous as you did as a teenager. Yet, you probably do not feel old.
You may have accomplished a few of your goals. But surely you have so many more goals to accomplish still.
You may feel like a formerly because you aren’t exactly as hot as you once were. Yet, you can still do sexy. You can still catch men’s eyes, just not quite in the same way.
What does Stephanie want to teach us. From the interview it seems that she wants to teach us that although things have changed that we may be a formerly we are still ourselves. Yes, things have changed. However, this does not necessarily have to be a bad thing. We can embrace these changes and we can have fun with them.
Critics are saying that the book is just another way for people to put labels on themselves. Yet, this is not what Stephanie is trying to do. She wants people to quit worrying about what other people thinks. She wants people to enjoy being who they are NOW.
So what about you? Are you a formerly? Can you enjoy being a formerly?
