Once in a while I run across a super deal on groceries at my local Walmart store. Such was the case yesterday when I was looking over a freezer full of foods in the center aisle. A store associate told me that although the sign said $3 each, the entire left half of the freezers contents were only one dollar!
Among the dollar items were boxes of Asian Style Sensations White Meat Chicken Egg Rolls. These looked delicious, and the box contained four egg rolls, only 25 cents each! Well, when they rang up at the check out they were only 70 cents, even better. I was thankful I bought every box they had!
Asian Style Sensations White Meat Chicken Egg Rolls contain zero grams of trans fat per serving, there is no added MSG, and they contain no preservatives. The egg rolls come with small packets of dipping sauce as well.
I like my egg rolls crispy on the outside, so I was a little skeptical about how these would taste if I cooked them in my microwave, but I was in a hurry and it was well past lunch time, so in the microwave they went. It took only one and a half minutes to heat it up, but if you choose the conventional oven method it can take up to 20 minutes.
The box says to let the egg rolls stand for one minute before eating, and this is a good word of caution because the contents are indeed very hot, and can easily burn the tongue or roof of the mouth. After a few bites of the Asian Style Sensations White Chicken Egg Rolls, I was hooked. I ended up eating three of these for my lunch, they were that good!
Along with the white chicken, these egg rolls also contain cabbage, carrots, celery, onion and green onions, as well as spices, eggs flour, and other ingredients. I absolutely love egg rolls, they are one of my favorite snack foods, but I rarely eat them due to the high amount of calories and fat grams. I checked the nutritional information when I was in the store, and I am pleased to let you know one egg roll contains only 130 calories and only 4.5 grams of fat.
There are also 10 milligrams of cholesterol, 350 milligrams of sodium, 135 milligrams of potassium, 19 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 3 grams of sugars, and 5 grams of protein. A serving also gives the body 15% of the daily allowance of vitamin A, 6% vitamin C, 2% calcium, and 4% iron. If the egg rolls are eaten with the sauce packets, these numbers increase to 20% vitamin A and 8% vitamin C.
I expected the sauce to be the typical sweet and sour style sauce, but this one has a little bit of a kick to it. I actually liked the Asian Style Sensations White Meat Chicken Egg Rolls better without the sauce. I am very impressed with the taste of Asian Style Sensations White Meat Chicken Egg Rolls, and they fit right into my low fat diet. These are the best frozen style egg rolls that I have ever purchased from a grocery store.
