I recently had the privilege to read an article of an outspoken atheist. It is obvious just the idea of God disgusts him. I would however like to try to explain what I saw in the article and what I feel this man is missing by his assumptions and presumptions about God and Christians.
As I read this article, he begins explaining why he hates God so much. He points out a picture of a child, only a few yards away from humanitarian help, and he can go no further. He is so near death there is a buzzard waiting for his meal , in the photo.
It is further noted that the photographer of the picture, won the Nobel Peace prize for the picture but later committed suicide. He had wanted to help the child but resisted for fear of disease. I’m sure it’s presumed this may have been a deciding factor in his suicide.
The reason no Christian came to this child’s aid (as far as we know), is because there weren’t any there. Where was his mother, his neighbor, his pastor? There wasn’t one. Why?
Christians are required by God to love his neighbor as himself. That kind of love transcends self preservation. Maybe a clue of the hopelessness deep inside the photographer that brought him to suicide.
Don’t confuse what’s fake with reality.
One must not confuse whats fake with reality. Many believe. The devil believes and trembles. “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” so the Holy Bible says in James 2:19.
There are many professing to be Christians, doing all sorts of things in the Christian name. When you find a consecrated and committed Christian holding steadfast to Christ, this is what all true Christians strive for. The one who will risk his life for his friend, and love his neighbor as himself.
We are however still in this sinful world, in a sinful body, tempted as every other man is tempted with one difference. We have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us to chastise us when we do wrong.
It was implied that God was guilty and Christians were guilty for believing in a God who was so guilty.
If God is real? He is not without blame the writer would have us investigate.
Firstly I would like to point out that just the mere act of hating Christians, they fulfill scripture. God says in his Holy word in John15:19 to Christians, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
Now to further respond to this notion that God doesn’t care properly, by helping some and not others is quite simple.
Just look at history, through the the ages, nations who have chosen to go their own way and serve their own gods, or not serving any, have fallen to famines, war, and every kind of social ill. God never promised to stand in the way of trouble for those not willing to follow Him.
A very good example of this is found in Ezekiel 14:13-14. “Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness saith the Lord God.”
Even these three men of God, who would fit the type of Christian we all want to become, could not save the people of this land being spoken of from the wrath of God.
God is very clear. This is why we see horrible things happen at times to nations who have turned their backs on God. Christians however cannot be said to be without compassion.
Right now Christians at the peril of their own lives are risking just that to save those who cannot save themselves from the massive floods in Pakistan. An official warning by the United States was issued to missionaries trying to help that their lives are in peril. Non Christian militant groups are targetting missionaries there to help the victims. Christians put it all on the line; It never gets reported.
Is God by default responsible for unanswered prayers?
This question arises after it was pointed out that for God to answer anyone’s prayer makes him by default responsible for other unanswered prayers and that those who praise the Lord for their answered prayers are liars and braggers.
I beg the opposite question. Does God deserve credit for answered prayers? Yes He does! He is Holy. As such, He answers according to His will. When people turn their back on God they bring bad things on themselves and sometimes their children. This is reality. Even Christians are instructed in the Bible to pray and change their ways. This would indicate God’s mind. He wants us all to straighten up and do right. ” If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and I will heal their land.”
John 14:13 says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” God is clear of how to pray and why.
Everyone needs the favor of God.
Every human being needs the favor of God “Lord, by thy favour thou has made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.” Psalms 30:7
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:17
“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”John 3:31
One who at the mention of the existence of God is sickened may want to evaluate why? Who’s side are you on? There are only two. You are either For God or against.
Satan is the father of lies. He would have you believe that you are more enlightened not believing in the only begotten Son of God who can give you life. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36
You war with yourself, you war with God and you war against religion and Christians, why? If it is not real why worry about it? Is it because deep inside your heart you have no peace? Is there a driving force from Satan to attack those who have seen God work in their lives and have seen him answer their prayers?
I hope you will reconsider because God Loves You.
