For the past few years, I have been purchasing and eating various types of Aunt Hannah brand snack cakes. This brand of snack cakes and other treats can usually be found at convenience stores, pharmacies, gas stations and other small retailers. Recently, I’ve been eating Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cakes and like every other Aunt Hannah product I’ve tried, they are delicious, expertly – baked and inexpensively – priced.
While Aunt Hannah brand products are not stocked in nearly as many stores as name brand products such as Hostess and Entennmann’s, I have been seeing them in more retail stores on a regular basis. I am so impressed with this delightful brand of carrot cake, that I have decided to write a review of it. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake.
The net weight of the standard – sized package of Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake is 3.5 ounces (99 grams). According to the package label, one of these cakes counts as one serving. Truth be told, these carrot cakes are so rich and delicious, that one half of a cake is enough to satisfy my appetite and sweet tooth. In physical size, these carrot cakes measure approximately four inches by four inches. While they are not huge in physical size, these cakes pack a lot of flavor into a fairly small product.
The regular retail price charged for one Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake at Hartford, Connecticut area food retailers is approximately $0.75c. Personally, I think that this price is very inexpensive, especially when the great flavor, pleasing texture and overall high quality of the item is taken into consideration.
The texture of the Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake is very pleasing and similar to that of a homemade carrot cake. The cake is soft, yet sturdy, moist and expertly – baked. The cream cheese frosting that tops the cake is smooth and creamy, yet it stays in place atop the cake, when the cake is bitten into. The texture of this carrot cake really shines when it is enjoyed with a hot cup of coffee or a cold glass of milk, or even better yet, when eaten with some ice cream.

Taste / Flavor
When it comes to flavor, Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake really delivers. As I was eating one of these cakes the other night, I wondered where the manufacturer got the recipe for this cake. To me, this item looks and tastes like the quintessential carrot cake. The cake’s flavor is mildly – spiced and somewhat exciting and the cream cheese frosting that tops the cake is top – rate.
Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake is packaged in a clear plastic wrapper with a yellow and blue banner across the top that reads Aunt Hannah and the words Carrot Cake underneath. Below the banner is an illustration of a matronly – looking woman whom I presume is Aunt Hannah. The package opens easily and also re – closes fairly effectively. The rear label of the cake package lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
All things considered, Aunt Hannah brand Carrot Cake is a very tasty variety of carrot cake that is traditional in appearance, texture and flavor. Interestingly, while I personally think that this carrot cake, as well as every other Aunt Hannah product I’ve tried, is just as good as, if not better than most name brand snack cakes in taste, texture and overall quality, it is priced significantly lower than the other brands. This product is highly recommended.
