Whether you’re a new Austinite, or simply looking to keep yourself “in the know” regarding upcoming events for your children and family, here are the top three best websites I’ve found for staying abreast of current events.
www.parentwiseaustin.com. This website is run by the local print publication of the same name. Parent:Wise touts itself as the magazine for “thinking parents” and they have proven to be just that. Their articles are clever and thought provoking, and perhaps best of all, they have a calendar on their website that lists many local events and happenings around town, including some low cost and free events.
www.freefuninaustin.com. Free family fun is all about free “Local Adventures for Families!” This website has a running list of free events happening around town and is updated daily. They have the inside scoop on who’s giving away free kid’s meals (often with no strings attached, such as buying an accompanying parent’s meal), free giveaways, free workshops for kids and free concerts. Because it’s all FREE, this is the perfect go-to website for the family on a tight budget.
www.kidzaustin.com/index.asp. Kidsaustin is another wonderful resource for families in and around Austin. The format is slightly different, with this site being broken down into categories, such as indoor and outdoor venues and events, lessons of varying types, summer camps, kids eat free information and sports, to name a few. This is a great resource for someone who wants to have a comprehensive introduction to a variety of topics pertaining to their children.
