Couples who have a newly-established warm relationship don’t have to stay indoors when cold weather arrives. They can make the situation even warmer by doing some fun things together. And as winter is about to arrive, as the song lyrics go, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”
Before autumn ends and the harvest is in, it’s the traditional time for hay rides. Get together with a bunch of friends or check online about hayrides that are already scheduled. Join in and enjoy a moonlight ride together in the back of a hay wagon. As the horse clomps through the autumn fields, you’ll find there’s nothing better than very close snuggling to warm up a relationship.
The same applies to riding together on a sleigh ride, the traditional winter activity that’s just right for loving couples. If it isn’t cold enough yet for snow where you live, book a mountain top vacation where there’s always snow, or it arrives early each year. Wrap yourselves in heavy clothing to keep out the cold, and as you go sleighing through the silent snow, you can sing the traditional sleighing songs together.
If you’re both the rugged type, go take a hike together. It can be just a couple of hours through the local park, or a more ambitious week’s trek to a cool mountain area. Late autumn can be the most beautiful time of year to visit Zion, Grand Canyon, Yosemite and other National Parks. The summer tourists have gone home, the weather is sparkling cool and the trees are brightly dressed in their autumn browns and golds. Who can resist romance in such a setting, especially at night when you’re close together by the campfire?
If your relationship has evolved to such togetherness, you don’t really need to go outside for a meaningful cold weather activity. While the autumn wind howls outside, prepare and set out a hot dinner by the warm fireplace. Afterwords, depending on your ages, you can sip brandy or toast marshmallows together.
For a complete change of pace, consider that other people will feel the cold weather in a very different way than you do. Agree together that you’ll postpone your cold weather fun for just a short while and volunteer at homeless shelter. You can help serve hot dinners to people who have come in to find some human kindness and warmth.
When cold weather begins to chill everything else, it’s a great time to plan warm and loving situations for your new companion.
