Monday night on ABC’s Bachelor Pad, it was time for more mindless competitions as the 15 remaining contestants competed for money and a shot at love. And after a kissing contest and a Vegas group date, it was getting a bit steamy. So what happened on episode 3 of Bachelor Pad? And who was sent home this week?
Blindfolded Kissing Contest
In an apparent attempt to up the chemistry factor in the Bachelor Pad, this week’s competition comes right out of 7th grade. The contestants are blindfolded and must kiss each member of the opposite sex, then rate who is the best kisser. Like I said before, this ain’t Survivor, peeps.
Straight up, Ashley Elmore wants no part of this competition. She’s a teacher and she has the respect of her students to think about. Good for her. Too bad Gia- who has a boyfriend at home (or should I say had a boyfriend at home)- doesn’t do the same. Instead she tortures herself while offering up quick butterfly kisses before her finally succumbs to the guilt and bails.
Meanwhile Natalie boasts, “I would make out with everyone in the house for, like, 20 bucks”. I’m sure her parents are proud. She tongue rapes The Weatherman, among others.
Dave and Peyton are voted the best kissers so they are safe this week and get to pick 3 people each for the group dates.
Dave takes Natalie, Nikki and Krisily on his group date to the Mirage in Las Vegas . Natalie quips, “Going to Vegas with Nikki is like going to Vegas with your grandmom”. She may be right about that. The conservative Nikki- who is a very pretty girl, by the way (think Sandra Bullock) , is sporting a do reminiscent of the Little House on the Prairie days.
Meanwhile Krisily, who felt some definite chemistry with Dave during the blindfolded kissfest, is not getting any reaction back from him. During her one on one with Dave he is quickly distracted by a bikinied Natalie as she leaps across some beach chairs like a gazelle.
After some wild times in the (topless) pool, Natalie gets the rose from Dave. No surprise there. She’s the only girl who went topless. Classy show. As the other two are glumly shipped via limo back to the airport, they must have realized topless girls finish first. What were they thinkin’? Dave and Natalie retreat to the overnight fantasy suite where they emerge a secret couple.
In a much tamer date, Peyton takes Jesse Beck, Kiptyn and Jesse Kovacs on her drag car racing date. She’s a smart player, choosing guys who are seemingly linked to other girls in the house. She connects with Jesse Beck and he gets the rose and the overnight fantasy suite date. He was smart to end things with Natalie last week as she’s clearly moved on.
Wes Campaigns for Gia
Wes is clearly smitten with Gia, Boyfriend or no, he’s looking out for her and campaigns to the other guys to break up the couples like Elizabeth and Kovacs. Meanwhile Gia, who has a momentary lapse regarding her off-camera boyfriend, compares Wes to a “modern day Shakespeare but better and cuter.” What literature class was she in again?
The Rose Ceremony
The cast mates vote by putting a photo of the guy or girl they want voted out in the ballot box. In the end, Gia and Weatherman Jonathan are eliminated. Weatherman? Where did that come from? The worst part of this was Elizabeth’s smug face after Dave Goode had to be the tiebreaker in deciding which girl to send home.
The Insiders versus Outsiders factor is definitely coming into play on this show. Just like high school, it’s a popularity contest. With a $250,000 grand prize…..
