Back to the Future Remake with Justin Bieber?

by bogbit

Yes it has been rumored that a remake of “Back to the Future” is in the works with perhaps Justin Bieber filling Michael J. Fox’s famous shoes. I can see it now: “Movie fans all over the world riot in the streets on opening day of the new B2TF starring Justin Bieber and Jim Carry.” For the love of god, can’t anything be sacred!?! Why do movie execs these days feel that they have to remake every classic movie in some rip off bastardized version?

There was a time when people had to come up with their own ideas to make bad films, but now they can’t be bothered to write their own scripts, but instead take beloved films of the past and make them into the crap of now. For the record, I hate the idea of Bieber playing the Marty McFly role, but that is not my sole complaint.

The fact is that this whole Justin Bieber Back to the Future reboot is just a rumor at this point, but regardless of whether they actually cast bieber, or if they even make progress toward launching a remake anytime soon, rest assured that at some point there will be a remake. Hollywood can’t resist recycling the classics. The thing is that “Back to the Future” was a great film that had a great spot in the 80’s along with the Delorean. This was a film that has a place in movie history and should be left there and respected for what it was. But of course hollywood won’t listen.

The problem is that The corporation that makes movies only cares about making money. They don’t care about making good films. The sad fact is that they only look at name recognition, and how much money it will earn them. Instead of trying to make a movie with artistic value, the production companies say “Justin Bieber is really popular right now; how can we use him? I know let’s make a horrible remake of a good movie and stick him in it!” Whether it comes to pass or not, I’m sure it has been discussed because this is just the kind of bad decision Hollywood likes to make with there wallets.

Understand that I am not a Bieber hater. Yes he annoys me, yes when he came to town and the radio deejays kept saying “Do you have Bieber fever?” I threw up in my mouth a little bit. However, “Justin Bieber” is a name you can’t avoid these days, he has a strong fan base and has a lot of buzz surrounding him. Just consider that I’m writing this article; I don’t care for him, and I don’t even like that style of pseudo-music he does, and yet I’m talking about him. When it comes down to it, I do have to give him some respect for his success; I can’t sit here and criticize him for achieving success at a young age. That said, just because someone is popular doesn’t mean they should get the starring role. Just because everyone is talking about Justin Bieber, does not mean they should cram him into Back to the Future. Hollywood if you are listening: YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY; PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD MOVIES LEAVE SOME THINGS ALONE.
