I’ve been using foundation since I was about 14-years-old, whether that’s an appropriate age is somewhat debatable. However, the early start has given me a chance to try just about every brand that there is. I roamed through the world of foundations felling okay about the products I was using, but not quite satisfied or content. Until I fell into the world of Bare Minerals that is. Now all my close friends use it too. I have a friend that was using the Sephora brand and a friend using Mac, now both of them have switched to Bare Minerals on account of seeing the miracle that is my face.
The decision to start using Bare Minerals foundation is one that is not easily made. It’s hard for us to get past the fact that it’s completely powder and that there’s no liquid which is what were more accustomed to using. It’s also hard to make the decision because Bare Minerals foundation consists of four different layers. This usually makes most women think it’s going to be heavy and feel like a mask. This is not so. I’m constantly getting compliments on my skin. I went to a convenient store the other day and the store clerk just stared at my face and said “wow, you have such beautiful skin, I wish my skin was like that.” Everyone assumes that I just happen to have great skin and that I don’t have any make-up on. That’s how light this foundation is. Sometimes I don’t know how to react because I know my skin is terrible. I have sun spots, genetic discoloration and other things that I don’t even know what they are.
Bare Minerals is one of the best kept secrets for a flawless appearance and radiant skin. The first two layers are the actual foundation. The first layer is generally a tad lighter than your skin tone and acts like a base primer while also providing color and coverage. The second layer is more exact to your personal shade and is the main part of the foundation that has the actual color. The third layer “Warmth” and is not considered to be foundation. Warmth is more like a bronzer that brings a little life to your skin tone and a touch of glow. The last layer is everyone’s favorite, “Mineral Veil.” This last layer is probably the most important of all. Mineral Veil is a clear white translucent powder that leaves your skin looking airbrushed with a calming effect on the previous layers sealing and meshing all the shades into your perfect color. The first two layers are based on your individual skin tone. The last two are for every shade, skin tone or creed and will be a part of every kit. All Bare Minerals foundations are SPF15 to minimize sun damage to the skin.
The best thing about Bare Minerals is the coverage. Any age spots, sun, spots, freckles, or any other UFO’s (unidentified friggin’ objects) on your face, it will all disappear as you apply Bare Minerals. Check out my flawless skin in the picture, there are no signs of the many blemishes that would be visible without Bare Minerals. To get started on your Bare Minerals journey, you can order online, by phone, or walk into a local boutique. Starter kits for beginners usually come with an introduction DVD with instructions and tips that are very simple to follow. Your kit will also come with make-up brushes and a few freebees.
