The Freesia flower is one of the most fragrant, and Bath & Body Works has used this to their advantage when they created their Sheer Freesia Body Lotion. While I can’t say the Sheer Freesia scent is one of my favorites, it is one of my daughters favorites in the Bath & Body Works line up of lotions.
Bath & Body Works Sheer Freesia Body Lotion is part of the companies “Pleasures” line up of products. It comes in an 8 ounce plastic bottle, and the cap has a very sturdy flip style cap, with impressions like a thumb print where you need to press to reveal the large rectangular shaped hole.
The lotion is an extremely pale pink, almost white, color, but the label pictures a pink and white freesia flower, which looks similar to an Iris or lily. The label states that this lotion is infused with real freesia extract. The back of the bottle calls this Sheer Freesia scent “Subtle, sophisticated and very feminine”.
I don’t think I have ever grown this kind of flower, so I really had no idea what the freesia smelled like. I took a peek at the Bath & Body Works website to see what the fragrance notes are, and learned that the top notes are plum and grass accord, the middle notes are baby freesia accord and rose, and the base notes are sandalwood and musk.
While this scent sounds very appealing to me, I was quite disappointed. I absolutely love the sensual scents of both sandalwood and musk, but I didn’t notice either of these scents in the Bath & Body Works Sheer Freesia Body Lotion. The scent of roses did come through quite strongly, and this is one scent that I simply cannot tolerate well. In fact, the scent of rose was a bit too overwhelming to me, and this may be in part because I am particularly sensitive to this scent.
As far as moisturizing properties go, this lotion is a good choice for the hands or the entire body. It contains glycerin, aloe vera, freesia extract, macadamia seed oil, vitamin E acetate, vitamin C, oat kernel extract, grape seed extract, and apple fruit extract, so it is nice to see these natural botanically based ingredients used in this lotion.
In fact, Bath & Body Works claims that the aloe vera, grape seed extract, and vitamins are ingredients that both nourish and protect the body. Bath & Body Works has a wide variety of scented body lotions from which to choose, and while I truly love many of them and make them a regular part of my beauty regimen, I unfortunately cannot add the Sheer Freesia in among my favorite Bath & Body Works scents.
