I have been wearing glasses since i was 16 years old (13 years now) and have always been reluctant to try contact lenses. The fear of me putting something in my eye was overwhelming! My son has just got to the age where he like to grab things, like my glasses, so i have taken the plunge and have tried contact lenses and Pure Vision from Bausch and Lomb are heaven sent!
1ST TIME = BAD EXPERIENCE
When I first went to my optician and told him I wanted contacts he told me about a lens from Focus Called Day and Night! This was a lens that you could wear for 30 days straight without having to mess with them! That sounded like just the thing seeing as I was so scared of contacts! It took over an hour to get the things in and I was so ready to just go back to glasses, however I tried them out but was left unimpressed. My vision seemed blurred nothing was clear, but i tried them over the weekend. Come Monday I had enough, I went back to the optician and told him they did not work! He wanted me to try one more brand, he bought out the Pure Vision lenses.
HOW ARE THEY
Over the weekend I had come to terms with me almost poking out my eyes trying to put in contacts and actually was finding it much easier. The Pure Vision lenses actually seemed thicker then the Focus Day and Night though. The Pure Vision lenses are very easy to put in and take out. Maybe it is because they are a little thicker then the Focus Day and Night and I can actually feel what i am doing.
The Pure Vision lenses are made from a material called Aergel, or more simply put a silicon material. The lenses are very soft to the touch. Aergel allows a lot of oxygen to reach your eyes, as much as if you were not wearing contacts at all, this makes these contacts very comfortable to wear!
To make these lenses even more comfortable Bausch uses a process on their lenses, a process they call Performa. Performa inserts ionized gases into the lenses, which allows the lenses to absorb more moisture than any lens ever before, the ionized gases to not affect in anyway shape or form the amount of oxygen that can reach your eye! This means that the Pure Vision lenses stay moist all the time and actually mimic the natural moisture levels of your eyes.
THE TIME TEST
Bausch claims that you can wear these lenses for 30 days and nights without having to worry about them, is this true? Well yes and no. First off you should always follow the directions given to you by your optician, that is very important.
I have worn my lenses for 3 weeks now and have not had any major problems to date. I wear my lenses all the time, day and night, I have slept in them every night so far. The lenses are very comfortable to wear, in fact can hardly ever tell that i even have them on. I have no doubt in my mind that you truely could wear these lenses for a straight 30 days. However every 7th day I do take them out and give them a good soak in a saline solution so they can be cleaned. I would hate to get an eye infection because I became lazy and did not want to take them out!
After sleeping in them you need to have some eye drops handy though because your eyes are going to be slightly dry from the nights sleep. When you sleep your eyes do not produce tears naturally. When you first open your eyes, it is not uncomfortable by any means but you just need a little helping hand to get your eyes moist again!
ARE THEY WORTH THE MONEY?
Absolutely! I am sure cost varies from optician to optician. For a 6 month supply they cost me $100 and then I got a $30 rebate from Bausch And Lomb so $70 for 6 months is pretty reasonable. I could never go back to wearing glasses now after experiencing the Pure Vision lenses! They are wonderful and would recommend them to anyone that is looking for a very low maintenance solution to your vision needs!
