With a hefty cost of just over $2 a day, you may be wondering if the Olay Regenerist 14 Day Skin Intervention is really worth it. Olay claims that the 14 Day Skin Intervention will “significantly firm and reduce the appearance on wrinkles … in just 14 days.” Overall, I was able to validate Olay’s claim that the cream firms skin, but it didn’t do much to reduce wrinkles.
The package comes with 14 individual tubes – seven with cream 1 and seven with cream 2. You are supposed to use the first cream for the first seven days and the second cream for days 8-14, and each cream has a unique purpose. In order to fully review the product, I will consider both the first and second cream separately as they are quite different in many ways.
Olay claims that the first cream, for use nights 1-7, “ignites skin’s surface turnover, infusing it with moisture.” When using cream 1, I found myself wanting to squeeze the entire tube onto my face to get my money’s worth, but this was not a good idea. Cream 1 is incredibly thick and a little will go a long way. In reality, one tube could probably last you three days, if you wanted to extend the treatment and your dollar. On a negative note, cream 1 smelled slightly like my face was burning after application – it didn’t hurt, but it didn’t smell great either. Overall, I found my skin was firmer and clearer after the first 7 days, but I was excited to move on to cream 2.
According to Olay, cream 2 is supposed to, “lift, firm and smooth skin’s look with intense hydration.” Cream 2 is lighter and smells much better than cream 1, but it didn’t serve its purpose as well as cream 1 did. I found my face looking duller and not as hydrated when using cream 2. At about night 10, I was wishing I had more of the first cream left to continue use.
Overall, I suggest extending use of the first cream by only using a little bit each night – it works much better than the second cream and you’ll see the intense hydration Olay promises.
