Purses are great to stash stuff in. You can put your money, makeup, car keys, cell phone and more in them. But if you’re feeling like you’re lugging around a load of bricks instead of a few essentials, you need to dump it all out and start fresh. One thing you should keep is some beauty staples for when you’re either on the run and don’t have time for makeup application at home, or when you need to touch up. Here is your ultimate guide for your beautiful and organized handbag.
Dump everything out of your bag. Separate any beauty products, money, hair pins, and receipts. Make sure you have another pile of ‘unnecessary’ things. Remember, you don’t need large bottles of perfumes, foundation and the like. The idea is to have a small amount of things to work with.
Have special places to put things. For example, use a side pocket on the outside for your phone and an inside larger pocket just for your keys. That way, when you go looking for these two most commonly used items they are always in the same spot, with easy access. Keep a small vinyl pouch for your cosmetic items. A clear zippered bag is ideal, so you don’t have to dig through it to find what you are looking for.
Clean out your purse. Shake any dust out of it and clean the inside. Depending on the material, you may be able to hand wash it with gentle detergent in your bathtub. If not, buy some fabric wipes or a damp rag and simply wipe the inside to get any debris off the material. When finished move to the outside using the same technique.
4. Stash essentials
In a small container or pouch:
-hair elastics or small clips
In your plastic makeup bag:
-mini eyeliner pencil
-powder compact with a mirror
-lipstick or stain
-small tube of mascara
-mini hair comb
The perfect makeup to keep in your handbag is the sample sizes and makeup items which can be used in multiple ways. For instance, a good lipstick or stain can be used on your lips and double as a blush for your cheeks. This beauty essential as well as concealer are always in my handbag!
5. Other things to keep handy
-small bottle of hand cream
-mini bottle of hairspray (only if you need it)
-mini pepper spray (a lovely lady has got to stay safe!)
If you don’t have or can’t find small bottles of things, simply pick up mini travel bottles from your local drugstore. Then, fill them with your favorite things. You don’t need to have large items weighing you down. Remember to also put money in your change purse or wallet and throw out any old receipts or expired cards. It’s important to stock your handbag with a few beauty staples because you never know when you’ll have a surprise meeting or date. Good luck on the go, beautiful!
