The last time I attempted to use an all in one body wash and shampoo, I didn’t have very good results. Because of my experience, I was very skeptical when the hospital gave my daughter a bottle of Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo to use while she was on bed rest due to a high risk pregnancy.
Aloe Vesta is made by a company called ConvaTec, and the bottle is aqua and white, with a easy use flip top cap. It contains 8 fluid ounces, and claims to soothe and condition. This product is appropriate for all ages, and can be used for showering or tub bathing, both on the body and as a shampoo, but it can also be used to wash patients who are bed ridden.
Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo has a thick texture and comes out of the bottle as a light blue colored lotion. It has a mild, light fragrance that reminds me of baby powder and ivory soap. The scent is very appealing to me because it is not real flowery and not at all overpowering. It barely lingers on the body when it is washed off, but if you use this as a no rinse cleanser you will notice the scent lasting much longer.
When used as a no rinse product, you simply add a few ounces of Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo to a gallon of warm water, then dip a washcloth into this solution and wash the body, and even the hair. When used in this manner, you do not need to rinse it out, so it makes a nice choice to use for those patients who cannot get out of bed.
We came home from the hospital with the rest of this product, and I was very curious as to how well it would work as a traditional shampoo. When I washed my hair with Dr. Bronner’s cleanser the results were not very impressive, and it left my hair looking dull. All I can say about Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo is “Wow!”. This almost feels like a clarifying shampoo, my hair felt squeaky clean in minutes, and it made a ton of suds. The lather rinsed out very easily, and when I dried and styled my hair I was shocked to see how shiny and manageable it was!
Likewise, Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo makes a very nice body wash. Because this works so well as a dual purpose cleanser, it would be a great all in one product to take on a vacation or camping trip. It’s nice to have a body wash and an effective shampoo all in one bottle!
If I have any complaints, it is concerning the ingredients. The name “Aloe Vesta” made me think that it contains aloe vera, but looking at the label I see that there is actually not very much aloe vera in the product. The first ingredient is water, followed by disodium cocoamphodiacetate, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, sorbitol, cocamide DEA, styrene/acrylates copolymer, DMDM hydantoin, citric acid, quaternium-15, fragrance, carbomer, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, FD&C green no. 3.
As you can see, aloe barbadensis leaf juice is almost the very last ingredient listed, meaning there is more of every other ingredient (except the artificial green coloring). I have my doubts about how beneficial this amount of aloe is to the product. I also don’t like many of the ingredients I am seeing, and I really prefer more natural based personal care products.
Still, if you need a good body cleanser and shampoo that works well when you are bed ridden and cannot get out of bed to take a bath or shower, Aloe Vesta Body Wash & Shampoo would make a fine choice.
