Best Florida State Parks to Have a Thanksgiving Dinner

Why spend another cold weather Thanksgiving at home when you can spend it at a tropical paradise. Come on down to one of these top five Florida state parks and have an outdoor picnic in paradise! Some of Florida’s state parks offer cabins with kitchenettes, bedrooms and fireplaces-not to mention all of the other amenities-and you’ve got the perfect Thanksgiving weekend all rolled in to one! Curry Hammock State Park #5

This is one of few all season campgrounds that offer access to the Florida Keys. It’s also home to one of the warmest winter records in North American history. Even though this park is on my top of the pick for warm season Thanksgiving dinners, it’s ranking number five. The only reason: It’s got a very long waiting list and just 28 sites.

Bahia Honda State Park #4

Snorkel, fish, swim, sunbathe or beachcomb-this #4 “Thanksgiving Day destination” on my list for Florida State Parks to have a Thanksgiving Dinner at is home to gorgeous beaches private pavilions, luxury campsites and even rustic cabins. Invite six people per cabin complete with two bedrooms, a full bath, kitchenette, heating and cooling unit, porch and wooden deck lofted high off the ground on stilts. Cabins are $160 a night through the holiday season with a minimum two night stay on holidays and weekends. These cabins move quickly for the holidays and can be booked in advance up to 11 months. Here’s the link for reservations.

Fanning Springs State Park #3

This deep water spring is home to manatee and some of the best snorkeling year round. And because the water is 72 degrees year round, a light wet suit is all you need in the fall and winter months to explore Florida at it’s best for your warm weather Thanksgiving family outing. T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park #2

This Florida state park is home to the only historic lodge still in operation in the park system. A full operating restaurant, scenic boat tour over Florida’s deepest spring and three great hall room rentals for huge family gatherings make this my number one choice. Top that off with your own room at the historic lodge and you have perfect warm weather place for the best Florida State Park Thanksgiving Day dinner ever!
