This swimmer and snokerlers paradise is easily accessible from downtown Crystal River and is located on NE 1st Avenue. This nice city park has plenty of parking and picnic space is everywhere. Covered pavilions and grills make this a great place to enjoy a nice lunch after a swim in the adjacent spring. Come in the winter months and you might swim with the manatees! Best of all, this park is free!
Freshwater springs are nice, but the cold water might not please everyone. If warm water and white sand beaches please you, take a trip down to the fort island gulf beach. With covered pavilions, grills, fishing pier, restrooms and concessions, this park makes a great place to work on your tan, do a little fishing, stroll along the beach or enjoy a hot dog and watch the kids build a sand castle. Fort Island Gulf Beach is located along US 19 and Fort Island Trail. Follow the road to the end.
Swim with the Manatees
For the true swimming experience in Crystal River, Florida, you need to swim with the manatees. These “sea cows” are gentle vegetarian giants that lurk the freshwater springs during the cooler fall and winter months.
