Travelers who don’t like to spend a fortune on a hotel will be happy with these best Phnom Penh budget hotels. Affordable, with comfortable accommodation, good amenities and centrally-located, so that many of Phnom Penh’s top tourist destinations are just a few minutes away, these budget hotels offer good value for money.
Blue Tongue Cafe Boutique Hotel – When you first arrive at the Blue Tongue Cafe Boutique Hotel you’ll think you’ve been taken to the wrong place. No way could this stunning hotel be a budget hotel. Well, you’d be wrong. One of the most beautiful budget hotels I’ve ever seen, this well-known Phnom Penh budget hotel is superb.
Located just a few hundred yards from the Central Market and not far from the National Museum and Royal Palace, the Blue Tongue Cafe Boutique Hotel is western-managed, was just remodeled in 2010 and has excellent amenities.
Each of the hotel’s rooms has an en suite bath with shower, mini bar, and Wi-Fi is available. The rooms are large and exceptionally clean, have TV with basic cable and even have hot water that’s heated by solar power.
The hotel has a 24 hour restaurant and cafe, and a lovely garden. Room rates begin at $35 a night (or around $30 if you book on one of the many hotel-booking websites).

Anise Hotel – Another of the best Phnom Penh budget hotels, the Anise Hotel and restaurant is a family-operated boutique hotel, close to shopping centers, restaurants and cafes and just a few minutes from Independence Monument. Anise Hotel also donates 10% of the proceeds from its restaurant to a charity for street children, which makes many budget travelers even happier about staying here.
The hotel has 18 guest rooms all of which have an en suite bath. The nightly room rate includes an Asian or Western breakfast, complimentary bottled water, in-room Wi-Fi, free laundry, and complimentary coffee in Deluxe and Superior rooms.
The Anise Hotel has a lovely restaurant that’s open 18 hours a day, free internet access throughout the hotel, and airport pick up. The only thing to be aware of is the hotel does not have an elevator so, if you can’t walk up four flights of stairs to the highest level, make sure you request a lower level room. Townview Hotel – A small and friendly budget hotel, the Townview Hotel is located right in the center of Phnom Penh, with easy access to many of the cities important tourist attractions.
Each of the hotel’s rooms is exceptionally clean and includes a choice of twin or double beds. Every room has an en suite bathroom, basic cable TV and air-conditioning. The hotel has several computers you can use to access the internet, all are accessible 24 hours a day and are free to use.
The Townview Hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but as there’s so many right outside the front door, that’s not a problem. Plus with room rates at only $20 a night, this budget hotel is a great deal.
