Barack and a hard place, Whiplash? Yeah, nice huh? I’m sure some other far more clever author has already coined that phrase, but I haven’t seen it, so it’s mine until then. Any other metaphors? Between the devil and the deep blue seas seems a good one to me. I truly believe we are faced with nothing but poor choices, feckless and lacking spine leaders and a power elite that figures all this is just a temporary bump in the road and if they can hang on by their fingernails, it’ll all come out in the wash.
Frankly it is senseless to lay blame on any entity for the financial collapse. There were many factors – Fannie and Freddie, BOTH parties trying to keep up appearances and working to consolidate their own power and influence and a largely unaware public too busy with their own lives to really pay close attention. Let’s examine the last point – the public’s seeming apathy.
First, it is not just apathy. Life is busy for sure. Busy lives, kids, careers and all the rest do weigh one down. It is hard to maintain focus on politics unless one has the time. For me personally, this is what I do and I don’t keep up with more then 10% of all the info out there, so imagine for folks who haven’t the time or natural inclination.
Our apathy has landed us where we are. Obama came along at just the right time. Like another leader some 80 plus years ago in a land far, far away, his appearance was at the right time and in the right place for his rhetoric to appeal to many who tired of the status quo. Believe it or not, when it comes to the filth of politics, we are almost all tired to death of it, but there is little we can really do about it.
If one believes in the Constitution as it was written, ratified and historically interpreted, Obama is not the one. He’s not the anointed one; he’s not the appointed one; hell, he’s nothing more than the disjointed one. He is the titular head of an amorphous movement known as progressivism. Funny that they will admit proudly to being progressives until one points out the actions, writings and desires of progressives, and then it’s all denial and obfuscation.
“No!” they will insist, “progressivism was never about eugenics!” Ahhhh, wrong! Look it up! Interning Americans for nothing more than their ancestry? Wrong again. Look it up! Favoring redistribution of wealth and social democracy? They will swear no, but then they will harp on them evil rich rapists of American corporations, blah, blah, blah and they have exposed themselves.
Barack Obama is a real life progressive. He truly believes union workers who make twice or more per hour in wages and benefits than the average worker are the real deal. Union membership has drastically declined in the US. Why? Because the unions time has come and gone. Unions were useful before federal law, OSHA and all the other organizations that look out for workers, thus unions are past their time. Now they are pandered to because they can be counted on to support and fund Democrat politics straight down the line. That is telling and indicates some level of collusion between union big wigs and Democrats.
As well it is increasingly odd that unions are a construct of left politics in America, yet extreme nations on the left, and progressivism is a tenet of leftist thought, but the more hard left a nation, the less likely to find workers with any bargaining rights at all. Look it up! Americans are not generically for much in the way of “collective” nothing. We are all about individualism. Isn’t this obvious?
Barack Obama is arrogant as all get out. And now he’s taken to attacking his own political base telling them they have to support his party. No Barack, they don’t because you exposed yourself. Your handler’s built an image that was totally false and the coalition of independents, disgruntled Republicans and young voters fell for the rhetoric that was all campaign and no genuine substance. As Peggy Noonan wrote in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, “Mr. Obama’s comments themselves could depress turnout.”
He knows what he claims is the solution to economic woes is not, based on empirical evidence. He went to Harvard. But he also knows Keynesian economy is what his ideology demands, no matter that Keynesian economies do not in practice actually do what their theorists claim. Obama knows that. But his ideology demands he forward it. Obama knows the Tea Party phenom is not about race, and so do intelligent persons who do not agree with Tea Party ideas, but for the Democrat cause many will parrot the talking points. It’s dishonest.
As well, all the elitism is not lost on citizens. Citizens haven’t forgotten how all we’ve heard is Palin is too inexperienced, yet a community organizer is plenty experienced? Nope and now that 20 months are water under the bridge, we have an inept president in 24/7 campaign mode. People hear this and know the deal. Obama and his handler’s are good campaigners but lousy politicians.
The nation hears Obama and his supporters claim mandates, yet a 53%-47% win isn’t a mandate by any stretch. And they govern as if they have widespread support, when polls reveal exactly the opposite. Yet Obama went on as if the citizens were behind him and supported him, and his supporters grew arrogant too and said stuff like “Drag ’em to it” and the like. People don’t forget that nonsense. It’s bad enough when a mistake is made, but it is compounded when those who benefit from the mistake look at us and ridicule us for falling for the hype.
That’s like getting over on someone and then lauding in their face and ridiculing them that ya got over on them. It’s bad enough to be naive. It’s all another when the victims of one’s clever presentation are then ridiculed for falling for the hype. Obama and his supporter’s characterizing the population against this stuff as being racist, redneck, homophobic and bigoted is what has backfired most. If they had been nice about it they could have snowed more folks for longer, but instead once they got the power in their hands they lauded it over the people who felt taken in.
It’s one thing to do the nasty with another man’s wife. It’s all another to do it and then ridicule that man for what was done to him. When one goes that far, is it any wonder this is going as it is? It’s simple to explain if one bothers to look at the history and evidence. Ya don’t punk a man and then look him up to laugh in his face after you punked him. I don’t know a single human being that finds that acceptable, and THAT’S why Barack is where he is and how the US ended up between Barack and a Hard Place. Doing that to most Americans results in them casting an opposite ballot at the first opportunity. Watch and see.
